This Post Is in memory of my wonderfull brother who passed away (the 31st may 2006) & as it approaches the anniversary of his passing 1 year on,i wanted to post something to remember him by as he will never be forgotten & is forever in my heart & mind. Here is a poem in his memory,he passed away at the age of 35 years old from Thal major:-
THE DASH
I read of a man who stood to speak at a funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on his tomstone from the beggining
to the end.
He noted that first came his Date of birth, and spoke the following
dates with tears, but he said what mattered most of all,
was the dash between those years.
For that dash represented all the time, that he spent alive on earth,
And now only those who loved him,
know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not,how much we own,the cars, the house,
the cash.
What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our cash.
So think about this long and hard, are there things you'd like to
change?
For you never know how much time is left, that can be still
re-arranged,if we could just slow down enough,
to consider whats true and real.
And always try to understand,
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show apprecitaion more.
And love the people in our lives,
Like we'd never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile.
Remembering that this special dash,
Might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy's being read,
with your life actions to rehash,
Would you be proud of the things they say,
about how you spent your dash.

Hi sydneygirl...
if u dont mind me asking....
I know u said your beloved brother died of thal major. But, from what complications? Cardiac failure?
Iron overload? Was he compliant growing up?
-
Hi,
To answer your question christine,my brother passed away as a result of heart & kidney failure as a result of iron overload. This was actually the 2nd time he had heart failure & he didnt make it through this time.He was compliant with desferal upto his late 20s,he did do his desferal but im guessing not as much as he should have.It was very hard to deal with this & i still feel the way i did a year ago.I would give anything to have my big brother back! i urge all the young ones out there such as yourself with your daughter as hard as it is dont stop having desferal! it was the worst & hardest thing to ever see watching my brother suffer in so much pain its not worth it.He was a very brave person & he fought it to the end.

His Life will be an example for my baby, sydneygirl.
I wish I could have met him and thanked him for being one of the "pioneers".
May GOD be with you, and please know, sydneygirl, you have an extra special angel watching over you from above. :hugfriend
