Latest update on retrodifferentiation technology
« on: September 27, 2008, 12:39:30 AM »
Hello everyone

Remember last March i got accquainted with the parents of an 11 years old girl who was the first thal child to go through this process. Here is an update.

The girl is a thal intermedia whose Hb is around 6 but transfuses ( don't know when she started ) because she suffers lack of activity every one and half month. She has Osteoporosis, virus C and had done splenectomy. She has problems in growth as one can not tell she is 11 years old. Finally she has iron overload in the liver and was on exjade.

She did retodiff last March and 40 days after retrodiff her HB was around 7.5 to 8. Now and after almost 7 month ( during this time there were no chelators, vitamin or supplements), there is no iron overload in the liver. Liver function significantly improved, bone density increased and no back pains, growth rate has increased as well as growth hormone, fetal HB increased too BUT now HB has dropped to 6 again but the mother says thather daughter is not lazy as she used before. Now she is seeking the help of natural HB inducers as she wants to avoid transfusion as possible. She told me that she was told by Dr. Elham that in this process stem cells target the most week part in the body and start working at and in her daughter's case it was the liver. She said that she never promised that this process will surely rise the HB but it will help in the other side effects of thal and added that may be an increase in HB may happen later.

Yesterday another twin sisters, thal intermedia (HB around 7-8 ), 14 years and never transfused went through this process here in Egypt for the first time ( the first girl traveled to Jordon and did it there ) . I will try to get their numbers to follow up.

Until 6 months ago Dr. Elham was not able to do this process in Egypt cause she hasn't gotany international approval but in a way her assistance here in Egypt wee able to invite her through one of the military hospitals and those hospitals don't follow the requirments of the ministry of health in this aspects. So now medical files of patients are sent to her and then she comes here in Egypt to work on patients. Yesterday, 5 cases were made the two thal twins, two liver cases and one diabitis case.

Concerning the update on the 11 year old girl, sorry if not that precise with numbers because that was the only things i was told by the mother as she does not talk in details.

hope this helps

Manal,

Thanks for the update. I have followed this for several years, but the real world results on the use of retrodifferentiation are what matter. These early results do give some reason for optimism. It has been said that they expected about a 6 month result from one treatment and this is about what has been seen. I know Dr. Ilham Saleh Abuljadayel has hopes that with repeated treatments, that the effect will become cumulative and last longer. I eagerly wait for further reports of her results.

To see Dr Ilham's earlier report from 2006, see http://www.thescientificworld.com/headeradmin/upload/2006.01.229.pdf
Andy

All we are saying is give thals a chance.

Thanks Manal,

For the update,as any parent would,i am praying that some day somehow,Dr Ilham will be completely successfull in her efforts,as this procedure seems quite promising and till now without any side effects.

You are welcome Andy and Zaini.

From talking with the mother of the 11 years old girl, she told me that Dr. Elham will be working in the coming year on injecting stem cells from the parents to their children in the case of genetic disorder like thal ( in this case this is a complete cure )without using chemotherapy to kill the patient bone marrow as she believes that using chemotherapy is responsible for many problems. The mother told me if this proves to be working she will go through this with her daughter

To me this sounds difficult to understand as i don't know how she will overcome GVHD and how she will avoid that the patient bone marrow will overcome the donor's stem cells.  But since i am not a specialist so i don't know but hope that this might work

It seems quite far fetched, but hey, who knows, there was a time when oral chelators also felt like a fantasy :) so just keep praying . :pray.
