Right now Mohanish is on a couple of medicines....thought you all might want to know....
1)Ciclosporin-which is for immunosuppression and he will be on it for a year...on a tapering dose.
2)Ursodeoxycholic acid-which will aid in the liver functions and he will be on it for 6 months.
3)Sulfomethoxazole-an antibiotic which he has to take thrice a week for 3 months.
4)Amlodepine-anti hypertensive that he has to take till his blood pressure is back to normal.
5)Calcium and Vit D
He has to go for weekly blood tests and to meet the doctor for 3 months, then it becomes a monthly visit. His chromosomal test will be again next week and then after 3 months again.
At home, he is should be isolated as far as possible. There are no dietary restrictions as such but no raw foods. He can start going out gradually after 3 months, but avoid crowded places and those with many kids....he can begin schooling only after a year.
And another thing, he may need to be on desferal for a while again after a month or so. This is because his ferritin pre transplant was around 1500...so till it is normalised he will need to be chelated.
It has been a little hectic since the time he is home since we are still establishing a routine and so the delay in my mails....
Take care all of you and your love is all over our home and hearts....

Madhavi,
Noone can claim that a BMT is an easy thing. It seems you have to go on struggling for a while, but the main battle is behind you now. I hope everything is under control. Mo is always in my mind.
All the best,
Lena.
