Dedication to Lisa
« on: February 09, 2006, 02:54:34 AM »
This site is dedicated to the memory of Lisa Cammilleri.

Lisa was the founder of the Thalassemia Patients and Friends group that had its roots on Yahoo and has more recently been on MSN. Lisa gave a platform for people to meet and talk, make friends, ask for help, learn and share their experiences.

Lisa was friendly and loving and was the funniest person, and her quick wit was unmatched. Her upbeat attitude towards life in spite of her health troubles was an inspiration to everyone who met her. That inspiration drives this group.

Lisa was our friend and we have dedicated ourselves to keeping her dream alive and growing. She is the reason this site exists and she would be thrilled to see it and how much her group has grown. She always thought of others first and her legacy lives on through all of us.

We will always miss you Lisa.

Lisa Cammilleri
1970-2004

The best little sister ever

This song by Sarah McLachlan was one that was very special to Lisa.

Angel

Spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
There’s always one reason
To feel not good enough
And it’s hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there

So tired of the straight line
And everywhere you turn
There’s vultures and thieves at your back
And the storm keeps on twisting
You keep on building the lie
That you make up for all that you lack
It don’t make no difference
Escaping one last time
It’s easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
This glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of an angel
Fly away from here
From this dark cold hotel room
And the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage
Of your silent reverie
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort there
You’re in the arms of the angel
May you find some comfort here

I couldn't have said it better, Andy.

And I've always love that song, Angel.  Every time I hear it, I think of Lisa now.  It always brings tears to my eyes.  I love Sarah McLachlan.  She was Lisa's most favorite singer.   :sadyup

Hi Michele,

I'm glad to see you here. I know Lisa would be happy that her cousin/sister has joined us on her birthday and I think she'd be delighted to see her group today.

Lisa, you mean the world to us.

I am new here and so appreciate this site.

When I first got to this site and saw the pictures of the beautiful woman, Lisa, at the top......well, her smile is contagious!

I am such a girl, teary eyed today reading and thinking that she is gone and I never got to meet her in person......yet, I am meeting her in spirit as all who come to this place do......and her love and encouragement will never end.

Thank you, Lisa.

I am so happy that everyone is remembering my beautiful daughter Lisa. Thank you Andy and the whole group. She would be so proud. Life is so hard without my girl. She made me so proud of what she accomplised in her short life. My friends and I still work the weekly bingo as Lisa had asked me to. She said "Mom, don't let another mother go through this" When I feel like giving up I remember her words. Thank you to everyone again, I know Lisa would be proud. Shirley Cammilleri-Huntoon

Hi Shirley,

Lisa was one of a kind. I know I will never know anyone else like her and she made such a huge impact on my life. There are times when I feel like giving up because Lisa was my only real connection to thal, but every time I see her face at the top of the page, I remember how special Lisa was and how she entrusted me to carry on for her. She would be so happy to see the amount of members and how much people are helped by the site she created. Everything I do is in Lisa's memory and because of that I always try to do my very best for her. Of everything I have done in my life, carrying on her legacy is what I am the proudest.

Lisa once came to a little league game at Tryon Park to see my son, Zak play. Lisa would be really happy to know that Zak started at third base for the East High varsity baseball team this year as a sophomore and he just won the sportsmanship award for this year. He also loves playing guitar. Lisa would love this kid.   :happyyes

We all are very thankful to Lisa, Andy and the Camilleri family for all they are doing to help Thalassemics around the world.

This site is the Ultimate resource for management of Thalassemia. Without the wonderful personalities that are on this site; we would have been wandering helplessly throughout the abyss of the internet searching for bits and pieces of crude information that is beyond the comprehension of a simpleton's mind like ours. Andy explains everything so well in detail that is easy for us to understand.

Madam Camilleri, I assure you that Mr. Andy is truly dedicated to serve all Thalassmics throughout the planet; just like your daughter had intended for herself.

Once again I Thank the Camilleri family and Lisa for their service to Thalassmics; Mr. Andy (a.k.a Capn' Thal.) for his dedication to Thal. and continuing Lisa's legacy and each and every member of this site for sharing every bit of knowledge they have and making this experience so friendly unlike any Doctor or hospital can ever do.

I Thank You ALL :grouphug

Can't say more than Sajid said, but without this site that Lisa had created and Andy is continuing,... i wouldn't be here in this world, i would have been helpless with nothing to do to my son. this site gave me information, support and more than this is hope .. by which i am waiting and living. I am not exaggerating but this site didn't change my life, but i wouldn't be able to live without it. Please Andy never give up . Shirley, ..Lisa is always in my prayers
