Because scans take some time to do, the age when to begin can vary according to the child, because it requires lying still, although Ferriscan can be done in an MRI machine in as little as 10 minutes. When the ferritin is kept in check, it is not as necessary to scan, so it can be put off. The advice will vary, but generally, scans should begin at between 4-6 years old. If a child has had a high ferritin level, then scanning might be recommended earlier.

It would be nice to hear from parents in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia on what they are told is the age to begin liver and heart scans.

thanks Andy.
Her ferritin is under control  so heart and liver scan should be postponed.
