Hello,
I was doing a web search and came across mention of carao and I was lead to this forum. I'm finding everything that's happening here very interesting. I have sickle cell anemia and my Hb usually stays around 8. I have been experiencing more discomfort from my disease as I grow older and was wondering what alternative treatments there may be out there. Is carao very effective for sickle cell as well?

Lloyd Standish:
Hello Meli,
After 4 years of constant clinical experience for sickle cell anemia (resulting from regular donations of the product to a Nigerian hospital: http://www.anemiaanswer.com/sokoto.htm) I consider carao fruit to be proven effective for sickle cell disease, and I challenge anyone to contradict that. However, I think discussion on carao for sickle cell is not appropriate on this thalassemia forum (Admins, correct me if I am wrong).  Therefore, please PM me or contact me though the anemiaanswer.com website if you have any questions. -- Lloyd Standish

Andy Battaglia:
Lloyd and Everyone,

Our group does contain some who have sickle cell or beta thal sickle cell, so the results for carao in sickle cell patients is very relevant. Please feel free to post any advice and results.

I followed the link you provided and the results that Dr. Sokoto has been experiencing are amazing. I could only hope to experience such results! What is the common dosage for an adult female? Also, do these trees only grow in Costa Rica?

Andy:
Yes, i think learning the results for both thalassemia and sickle cell are very interesting and important. I actually first came across this forum last year when I first started ExJade. I learned that you should not use a metal spoon then. I find this forum very kind and helpful :)
