Andy Battaglia:
Hi Teresa,
You are born with thalassemia trait. The main way that thalassemia trait is discovered is through blood tests at birth. However, testing is a more recent development in the countries that do test. In Hong Kong, they do now test at birth but did not when you were born. If not tested for at birth, it won't be found unless either it is being looked for, or a lab technician notices the small red blood cells in your blood during any blood test. Most thal minors in the world are not aware of their status, so not knowing isn't unusual.
Dori:
It's a really strange name. It sounds german, but chien is French for dog
I use google (like you did, I think), but I think you spelled the name wrong.
Aren't you talking about Desmonds Syrup of Haemoglobin?
http://www.google.com/search?hl=nl&q=Desmonds+Syrup+of+Haemoglobin&btnG=Zoeken&lr=
The info says that it is a treatment for anemia with lack of iron.....
Good luck, and please give me (us) more information about this! :)
