About Vitamin A..
Sharmin:
Zaini,
I think Andy's idea of taking the vitamin 5 or 6 days of the week is good - just in case that dose is too high.
As for iron, there is more and more evidence that thal minors tend to absorb extra iron through the gut because they are anemic and there are more reports of iron stored in organs of thal minors as well.
I agree with Manal that thals should not avoid iron all together, especially because women but maybe it would be a good idea to eat iron rich foods rather than having it in a supplement except in pregnancy or right after childbirth.
Because thal minors break down there red blood cells more frequently than the average person (28 days) I suspect that more iron could be stored from that as well.

These exactly were the points in my mind, that's why i try to avoid iron in supplements, although i don't eat red meat much,or even green leafy vegetables, still my ferritin was in normal range.Do you think there would be any symptoms if we minors get iron overload,i know ofcourse it won't be that severe like majors, but still it's harm ful isn't it?
Zaini.
Manal:
One more thing Zaini, is that you have to do a complete iron studies to evaluate iron levels. I say this because at certain times my ferritin was normal and my serum iron was severly below the normal range. At that time i started taking iron pills :thumbdown and after 3 months my Hb raised from 9 to 12.5

Zaini:
Good idea Manal, :hugfriend
I'll try to get my serum iron checked.
Zaini.
