Sharmin:
Mickey,

This is very interesting and after a quick perusal it appears that the antibacterial, antidiabetic, anti inflammatory etc effects would be valuable for thalassemia and sickle cell anemia alike.  Also the positive effect on the vascular system could be beneficial for patients affected by both disorders.  We cannot underestimate the effects of natural substances on our health.  I have heard a lot about various qualities of mushrooms and health benefits.

The variation in preparation of herbal medication should be considered when using any of these types of remedies.

I think that this herb is worth further investigation as being possibly helpful in thalassemia.  I will spend some more time looking through this soon.  Andy is our real expert when it comes to vitamins, herbs and supplement and he may find this very interesting.

Manal:
Yes Mickey, i have read about it, there are more than 200 species of Ganoderma and each for a different organ. It does not help thal directly ( some report that it may increase time between transfuions) but keep the body in good shape in terms of inceasing immunity, getting rid of toxins, increasing metabolism, building up new cells enabling each cell to work at its max capacity. This Ganoderma is what is called  Lingzhi which s one of the species that are made into pills. There are different pills depending on the time of harvesting and each for different function

i do believe very much that there are a lot of benefits ad secrets behind many natural plants or herbs but we still don't know a lot about them

Since you will attend the conference, it will be a pleasure for all of us if you update as with what you know there.

Hope Kabir is doing well :hugfriend

Watch this,

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2042252397942128109

In this video, According to Dr Hasegawa Eiichi ( Doctor of medical science former professor of Kyoto muncipile medical university ) Taken regularly Red Reishi ( or Ganoderma) has shown a strong impact on diseases caused by poor blood circulation,in herbal form red reishi can purify blood by enhancing circulation and eliminating toxins like monosodium glutomate, ciggarate tar and other harmful chemicals and drugs from the body, red reishi helps lower cholestrol  and also prevents formation of blood clots ,and increase the metabolic activity of blood cells .

But what about the iron content? Does it contain any?over all it seems like a helpful herb for thals.

Zaini.

Sharmin:
Thanks Zaini,
That was very interesting.
