Hi Tyson
Supplements that are taken with chelators were vitamin C ( releases more iron in the plasma and therefore allows more iron to be chelated out of the system) but taken only with desferal. No studies about taking it wiith exjade.
But what is a good one to be used with all chelators is the IP6. It is a natural chelator, helps to reduce the damage of iron overload on the cells and therefore reduce the organ damage caused by the loaded iron (antioxidant). There are a lot more benefits for IP6 that you can read about in the following links

Taking tea with meals will help you not to absorb much iron from food,it doesn't help in chelating iron but it won't let iron to be absorbed as much as it would from food.

Pomegranate juice is high in antioxidants and vitamins and also has some iron chelation properties. Contrary to the claims on many "health" sites, pomegranate is not high in iron and its ability to counter anemia has far more to do with the other vitamins and minerals it contains. One cup of pomegranate juice contains only .25 mg iron. Please keep taking both pomegranate juice and L-carnitine and let us know what your future ferritin results are.
Pomegranate juice is one more of the fruits than can be very beneficial to thalassemics and also anyone with anemia. It also has been shown to have very positive qualities in both reducing cholesterol and protecting the heart.
And a side note about taking Exjade. The Cooley's Anemia Foundation is reporting that Exjade can also be mixed with Koolaid and Gatorade. I think this list will lengthen.

Andy,
It is good to know about the pomegranite juice. I was giving lil A pomegranite juice daily before, but then I stopped because I was afraid that I may be giving him too much sugar. I wondered if giving him actual pomegranite would be better than giving him the juice - is this the case?
I think that thal minors may benefit from pomegranites in terms of increased hemoglobin levels as well. Pomegranite may also be beneficial to thal intermedias, both because of the increase in antioxidants and possibly hg levels.
