Hi Eugenio, Andy n everyone,

I want to know if curethalassemia organisation supports only BMT cause as per Dr. sodani's mail to me:  unrelated unmatched cord blood is still under testing but Through one of the member in thalpal (aabha) we are made aware of cord blood transplant being successful in Taiwan.Please give us the progress on this.  Thank You

All I can say about this is what you have already read in posts from aabha. I agree with Dr Sodani that it is experimental at this point. I don't think there has been enough study of this method, nor has it been used long enough to be able to make any definitive statement on its safety and efficacy. I would suggest asking the doctor doing these transplants for statistics on the long term success rate and safety record for the patients that this has been performed on.
