Parin2005,

Which city will you be visiting? as an US resident, we have a dedicated Hematologist for our child who prescribes the transfusion and related care. The Hematologist sits at the children's hospital so we just go to him to get everything coordinated - type/cross, transfusion, all other lab work, chelator prescription etc.

As a visitor, I suggest you send an email to Patient Services Manager: Eileen Scott (eileen.s@thalassemia.org) from CAF to get some insight into how to get it started. Or, may be someone else on the forum as additional advise.

I don't live in the US, but I know that international travelers have to buy medical insurance if they are travelling to the US. I know people who had to pay expensive premiums to buy medical insurance in the US as they are not citizens or residents of the US.

Specially, it would be hard to find insurance company if somebody has pre-existing condition.

Parin:
thank you Bostonian_04 and Canadian_Family for your information.

Regards,
Ashutosh
