High fever
Christine Mary:
Hi guys~
Lauryn has had a fever for 3 days now. 104-104 1/2. the md says it is an ear infection so he gave her amox 400/500 mg. 2 mls twice a day for 7 days.
I have also been alternating motrin and tylenol, but her fever wont break!
Is this high fever too high? should i worry (more) about the thal? Can this infection be the result from her blood 5 weeks ago???
Any suggestions on what i should do? She is also teething terribly and she is miserable!!!

Hi Christine,
I've noticed that kids usually develop fever, diarrhea and cranky behaviour while teething as they tend to bite almost anything to sooth the irritation of gums; as a result they catch all sort of germs and result in infection.
You have to take special care of her that she doesn't bite into something nasty. Instead give her clean teething toys.
It's one of the phases of all babies that are growing up and is not associated with Thal. The rest could be the ear infection that you mentioned.
Take care, Peace!

Hi Christine,
There is almost no chance this is related to her transfusion. A transfusion reaction would've been seen much sooner.
This high temperature is not as bad as it sounds. It happens often in babies when they're sick. Ear infections can be very stubborn and may take some time to respond to antibiotics. If you don't see a change in a day or two ask the doctor if another antibiotic should be tried. One thing you can try is give Lauryn motrin and wait for it to kick in and then give her a bath in tepid, room temperature water. The voice of experience (my wife) suggested this as it helped when our son had a 104.5 temperature.

Hi christine,
It worry me to hear that lauryn is not well.whatever you do please try to bring down her temperature if you can't she needs to be in hospital I said that because high temperature in a baby is dangerous the complications and consequence can have bad adverse effect on her little body.
take care and I will pray that she gets better soon.there are lots of possible reason why she is running a high temp.
