Hi Everyone,
I've got IP6 at last :) one of my relatives was coming to Pakistan from America,i asked her to pick it up,i am still waiting for your package eagerly Sharmin,it hasn't arrived yet, what you did was a huge favour, thanx again :hugfriend.
Now help me about the dosage,my daughter is 6 years and 5 months old,and her weight is 24 kg,how much should i start?plus is it necessary to take it on empty stomach? one thing which is confusing me is it's written on it "NOT INTENDED FOR USE BY PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 18" .i think Sharmin's son is definitely under 18 :).
Waiting for your reply.

Hi Zaini,
I'm so happy for you! :clap
It is always wise to start at a low dose to see if body reacts unusually. If all goes well then you can gradually increase the dose.
-
Hi Zaini,
What dosage are the IP6 capsules? I think 500-1000 mg per day is a good starting dose.
Anything that hasn't been tested on children will include the warning about not using on children under age 18. It is a liability matter for manufacturers and not a reflection on the safety of the product. IP6 is a very safe supplement. No side effects were found in dosages of 10 mg per day, which would be a very high dosage.

Hi Andy,
IP6 capsules are 510 mg each,i think i should start one capsule a day?on empty stomach in morning?but do tell me how much i can increase the dosage? and when? Sharmin what do u say? how much do you started and how much are you giving your son right now? I am anxiously waiting for your replies.
And thanx Sajid :)

Start one capsule per day and after one week raise it to two caps if everything seems normal. Take one in the morning and one in the evening. I doubt there will be any reaction, as there are no known side effects. Eventually, you will want to reach a dose of 4-5 caps daily.

Thanx Andy,
For your guidance,
i'll update whatever happens.

Hi Zaini,
I'm glad that you have IP6 - I wonder what is going on with the package that I sent - I will follow up.
The pills I have are 500mg each - I began by giving my son 2 a day, one in the morning and one an hour before dinner. I then gradually increased it to 3 (the last one at bedtime). We are now up to 4 a day - I double up two of the doses during the day. We have not noticed any negative side affects at all. Initially we noticed that his skin color lightened quite a bit - but now it is summer time and he is in the sun quite a bit so we will see how he looks in the winter. (You may wish to start with 1 cap a day - as Andy has suggested).
His serum ferritin decrease in the first few months from 2300 to 1800, we haven't had it tested for a couple of weeks - but we should have a recent ferr next week which I will post.
I wish you the best - I - and I will follow up on the IP6 which I have posted.

Sharmin,
I noticed you are located in Canada. If I may ask a question regarding IP6; where did you bought it from (is it available at Shoppers Drug Mart) or one of those natural specialty stores, if you could post the brand name and name of the store; also how big is the capsule. My daughter is only four and my only worry is if she can swallow it.
Are you located in the GTA area.
Thanks.

Hi Sharmin,
Thanx for your concern :hugfriend the thing i wanted to make sure was that is it necessary to take IP6 on empty stomach??
Take Care,
ZAINI.

I've been giving it to him on an empty stomach - I give it to him 1 hour before meals or 3 hours after a meal.
-
Canadian family,
I'll post the info you requested soon. I think your daughter will also benefit from IP6 - the pill is difficult to swallow, even for my 9 year old. It will take some practise.
-
my son is 2years old now and one 1 blood transfuson only. so for ip6 how much dose should i use and how should i increase in time? please suggest.

Hi Micky,
I think you should start one capsule a day,but it's a big one and i don't know if your son would be able to swallow it.I give it to my daughter after meal instead of on empty stomach, don't know what could be the reason, but i felt it worked better for her that way.

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me the generic name of IP6? ??? I mean I find it hard to find one perhaps I thought there's a much common name for it or it's just IP6? :dunno I might have seen it already and not know that it's that medicine already..... Thanx ! hope to hear from you soon!

Hi Lyanne,
It is Inositol Hexaphospate. It's commonly known as IP6 and Pythic Acid.
There are few brands. The ones at www.enzy.com Enzymatic therapy Cell Fortè® IP-6 & Inositol also contains a good amount of calcium and Magnesium that is benefical for Thals. and because of this, it is more expensive than Puritan's IP6 that Mr. Andy found at www.puritan.com which have a very good price if you place an order of more than one.
-
After further reading about IP6 it does seem to work more effectively if taken on an empty stomach and is also more effective when taken with Inositol. Capsules can be opened and dissolved in water or juice if the child is too small to swallow the capsule. Please remember that IP6 is a supplement to chelation and not a replacement. It is also a powerful antioxidant, as is green tea extract.

Thanx Sajid! :hugfriend will be looking that up don't know if it's already available here in our country............. Anyway, still hoping i could somehow find one...... :grin

Sharmin,
Are you still giving IP6 to your son? What is the update? How is he doing on that? Any changes in ferritin? Is he still taking 1000 mg in the morning and 1000 mg in the evening?
