Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me what are the different ranges of hb, mcv, hba2 and hba1 and any other indicator (for both alpha and beta)for minors and for minimas?
thank you for your input beforehand.

Alpha thalassemia minor and carrier states cannot be determined by hemoglobin levels, as they will both test at normal levels. At most, there might be a slight measurable anemia in alpha minor.
In beta minor, Hb level is usually in the 9-11 range. This is higher in silent carrier (minima) beta thal and is likely in the normal range. HbA2 is 3.5 -8%. HbF is 1-5% in about 50% of minors. MCV will be in the 50-70 range. Minima is a classification that isn't the result of measurement, but is based on lack of symptoms.
