Wheat grass juice is not Exjade!!! It does help in maintaining hb but its not exjade...does not chelate iron as well as exjade or deferiprone..DO NOT RELY ON WHEAT GRASS ALONE TO chelate...

I have also never heard that wheatgrass is an iron chelator and Dr Reynolds has never suggested this, as far as I know. Wheatgrass is an Hb inducer and also has many positive properties. Even those who show no increase in Hb from wheatgrass report that they have more energy and that their health is improved by taking wheatgrass. There are some natural iron chelators like IP6 and green tea extract and even milk thistle has some chelating properties, but none of these substances can replace chelating drugs. They are used to supplement chelation.

Sajal posted this same thread under "Working Towards a Cure" with another thread:

http://www.thalassemiapatientsandfriends.com/index.php?topic=1591.0

I had merged them to avoid the confusion that is created in this thread but unfortunately I couldn't do the same with this thread as it is in another board(subforum).

Andy,

I've noticed this too late to inform you sorry :(
