Title: I'm a newbie...

My name is Julia, and I live in Baltimore, MD.  I was diagnosed with thalassemia minor many years ago and I'm just now searching for answers.  That is how I came across this site.

I just posted on the "Living with Thalassemia" board (perhaps I should have come here first).  If anyone has the time and the inclination to help me with my questions, I would be much obliged.

I want to take charge of my health since I've been feeling so lousey lately (and my doctor is blowing me off). 

At this point, I'm trying to decide if I should see a hematologist.  Not sure what all is involved with that.

Anyhoo....just wanted to introduce myself!
