In the last 3 weeks you would of probably not missed me!!! Well I was hospitalised with a viral infection and a total zero count of neutrophills...
I had fevers of 42+ which lasted 5 days... My WBC were zero for 4 days straight till they started giving me GCSF... while in hospital they were giving me antibiotics and fluids but in giving me fluids I started to put weight on from excess fluids too... I gained 5kgs of fluids... With that i couldnt eat as well, so in the last week I have lost weight as well...
I still dont know how I got the throat infection, but I am not able to take L1 anymore..i am starting on Exjade as of 16/9/08...
Wish me all the luck...
I dont seem to have had much luck this year..with everything that has gone on with me...
Hope all is well..

Smurfette,
I am sorry to hear that you were so sick! I am glad to know that you are home and hope that you are feeling better.
I think that you will do well with Exjade. I have been told that the side effects are much milder, as long as you are well monitored for kidney related issues. I'm sure they will start you on a low dose.
My son had some nausea to begin with, but that subsides within a few weeks and you begin to feel better. And like Manal said, it's a good idea to get some yogurt on board after the antibiotics. You'll want to have a healthy stomach in order to prepare for the Exjade.
Best of luck, I wish you a speedy recovery,
Sharmin

Hi Smurfette
That was really serious. I am glad that you are better now. Take care of yourself. As Manal said after all those antibiotics, you must reconstruct your flora with yoghurt and vitamin B complex. Wish you a speedy recovery.

Looking forward to going back to work...
To all it was serious, but I am here and able to talk about it...All those antibiotics did make me feel sick too and if I loved yoghurt i'd eat it...but I dont :(

Hi Danielle,
Sorry for the delay in my reply, I have been through alot this year, with chronic back pain and interferon and the neutropenia, hopefully I am getting on the right track...
Exjade is ok, I have only been on it for 2 weeks now, no major dramas there, but the odd side effect nothing major though :biggrin
I dont mind the fact that I have to take it once a day..suits me just fine...
Hope all is well with you too Danielle?
