The recommended dose of Ferriprox is 75 mg/kg body weight. For a weight of 50 kg, this works out to 3750 mg daily (7 1/2 tabs) and it should be split up into 3 doses a day.

im sorry to bugg u again but how do u calculate this
it will save me time instead of asing u every now and then

To determine the normal daily dose of L1, multiply your body weight in kilograms by 75 (mg). 100 mg/kg is the maximum safe daily dose and should only be taken when that dose is prescribed.
For example: 40 kg x 75 = 3000 mg/daily. Take 6 (500) mg tabs daily
50 kg x 75 = 3750 mg daily. Take 7 1/2 (500) mg tabs daily.
90 kg x 75 = 6750 mg/daily. Take 13 1/2 (500) mg tabs daily.
Only take under a doctor's supervision, with regular monitoring of white blood cells.

Hi Mariam,
Good luck with ferriprox :goodluck As Andy said, keep an eye on your WBC count while taking Ferriprox,if you have flu like symptoms (fever, cough) and you think they last too long then usual, please check your WBC count right away.By the way,it's advised to check WBC count every 2 weeks when you start Ferriprox, and if the pattern remains the same you can check them every month.

I am sorry for being negative here....
But mariam your doctor should determine weather you should go on combination therapy..Not you!!!
Why did you stop Exjade for?
As Andy said you should get your WBC checked weekly, because using it wrong could cause your WBC to drop and you can become very ill...
I would strongly recommend you speak to your doctor before you decide to become your own doctor and start taking them, without his knowledge..

Hi Maryoom ,
GOOD LUCK :goodluck ..
i m not gona say anything against or in favour of Ferriprox . bbut i want to mention here that Ferriprox is the Film coated Tablets soo dont break it in two pieces to get the mark of taking 7.5 pills a day... you should take 7 pills a day ... but not to break .. bcoze film coating is used to release medicine slowly and it make's the mediiicine last long ... if you will break it , it wil release very quickly and that could harm your digestive system ... .its my opinion please do discuss about it , i dont think that i m wrong over it but for sure you may ask about the probleme i mentioned ,,... or andy , smurfette and anyone else , please correct me if i m wrong over it ....
Best REgards
Take Care
