Happy Eid everyone.  May Allah indeed accept our sacrifices.

I really want to know how you celebrate Eid in different countries.  So, how do you spend your eid day?

In Mauritius, we start preparing beforehand by cleaning the entire house and make it look better for that day.  We wake up earlier complete our fajr, then we go for the eid namaz, we come back and along with other members of the family we join together and cook our "briani" while the men go for the sacrifices.  They come back for lunch and then we distribute the meat.  After that my husband, children and I, we go to my parent's place where we have dinner.

Hey Jade  :hugfriend

It's almost the same here,in Pakistan,we wake up early in the morning,After fajr,Men go for eid namaz, then sacrifices are done, meat distributed, cooking all along, special dishes include all meat dishes specially fried liver (EWWW)  :rotfl I really don't like it,but people love it here. And we have dinner at my hubby's parents that day.By the way i love Biryani  :biggrin I don't know how you cook it there, but it's a really spicy dish here.

Dore, I hope you got the picture now :) what we celebrate is a great sacrifice one of Allah's Messengers Hazrat Ibrahim was going to make,we call it Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi here ,(Sunnat being an act done by a Messenger( or Prophet) and followed by the believers ).

Hello All,

Happy Eid to those who celebrate it.. Well, the celebration here in Malaysia is not so different too from Maldives and Pakistan. We wake up at dawn to do our morning prayer. Afterwards, we went for the mosque to do the Eid prayers and afterwards the men will perform the sacrifice. After the meat is distributed, we cook and have a feast  :biggrin

Except that the menu is different here. Some cook it as Rendang (spicy abd full of herbs), or fried them with ginger or make it into soup. Instead of Briyani, we eat it with plain white rice.

 :wink

In Egypt, it is almost the same, all the family go to the mosque to do the Eid prayers, ususally we all walk cause the streets are so crowded, you can not use a car. Then we do the sacrifice and to surprise you, Ahmad loves this part soooooo much he does not even get afraid at all and just yesterday he told me that he decided to be a butcher :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl Oh my God can't imagine after all the education he has been receiving . On the contrary my daughter does not like to be involved ( I have the two extremes in my children) . Then we distribute the meat, gather with our family and have lunch togather.

ususaly in Eid children receive Eidya ( which is a sum of money given by adults for them to buy whatever they like. I like this part becausei still get the Eidya from my parents as well as my husband :rotfl :rotfl

On all the four days of the Eid, television broadcasts a lot of new shows and films, many parties in clubs and hotels ,all the time you can see fire works

The traditional Egyptian dish in Eid is the Fata which is  fryed bread in butter dipped in tomato/garlic sauce with white rice and meat. But actually i am not a fan of sheep meat . There is also the rwkak which is a kind of a pie with minced meat. You can also find soup and salad on the table

hummm ... good question ...
its same on my side As Zaini and others mentioned ..
but i want to add a few details :
we wake up with dawn , offer's Fajr Salat ( prayer ) , then prepare our sleves for Eid Salat ..
me My Father, my Bros, My cousins and my uncle goes to offer Eid Salat togather .. ( a good thing what is neccessory after eid salat is to hug each other wat we do ) .. then we go to visit Grave yard to remember our relatives who r not with us, to Requeim for them and to remember them on this happy ocassion to remember that one day we all have to die , so determine to keep our selves away from sins . after that we comes back to home and then our primary mission start's , that is to hide out the VIP  of those 3 days and catch him ASAP , guess who he could be..... yeah you r absolutely right "THE BUTCHER" ... After Catching the Butcher its time to sacrifice Animal As Zaini mentioned ,
Quote
what we celebrate is a great sacrifice one of Allah's Messengers Hazrat Ibrahim was going to make,we call it Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi here ,(Sunnat being an act done by a Messenger( or Prophet) and followed by the believers ).
:exactly ... after that its time to distributing or gifting Meat to the People who deserve that meat , to the people wo can't afford to sacrifice Animal, so they can eat meat ( Poor people, its the best thing to give the meat of Sacrificed animal in them , ) so we distrbute large amount of meat in those people ...

me, my family, my uncles and theirs families spend all three Eid days Togather , and we co-operate to each other to do this all .... its fun its joy and its happiness , thats wat Eid is in Pakistan , in my country ..........

Special Dishes :  Koorma, Biryaani and Bar B.Q ....

[bgcolor=#baff00]Eid Mubarak To All my friends who are celebrating Eid , and Eid Mubarak in Advance to my country fellow Friends ....  [/bgcolor]

Best Regards

Q: is there a connection between Ha(d)j and Eid?

Q: What means Eid (and Eid mubarak)

I hope i spelled it right
Title: Re: Happy Eid

Hi Dore

''Eid'' means feast or festival in Arabic and ''Mubarak'' means blessed, so Eid Mubarak means a blessed or happy feast.

Yes there is a connection between Haj and Eid, as Eid is celebrated on the 10th day of month of Hajj after the annual pilgrimage to Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

Eid ul-Adha is celebrated as a commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son for Allah. On this day Muslims sacrifice animals which have been deemed Halaal, or fit for sacrifice. They not only eat the meat themselves but distribute it amongst their neighbours, relatives and the poor and hungry.
