Title: Endocrinology Tests
Post by: Sharmin on June 29, 2009, 01:15:19 AM
It is recommended that all thals - beginning at a young age see an endocrinologist.  Endocrinologists do various tests to determine whether children are growing a developing properly - and for early detection of problems such as diabetes.

Below are a few tests that have been recommended by the endocrinology department in Oakland for us.  I am sure that many others are important too - and I will update when I know what they are.

set of pituitary labs
oral glucose tolerance test
fructosamine level
TSH
Free T4
PTH (intact)
IGF 1
IGF
BP 3
LH
FSH
testosterone
fasting glucose.

Other (non endocrinology) tests required were:
Ca, Zn, Cu, Selenium, Vit C, Vit E, Vit D (25OH)

I hope when possible thal patients should have these tests done,
