I hope that Ayesha feels better very soon.  Fever and congestion may cause some drop in her hemoglobin but it shouldn't be drastic.  In some cases it does not affect the hemoglobin at all.  If she looks pale or lethargic you can have her hemoglobin checked sooner.

Sending my best to Ayesha,

Sharmin

Ayesha's mother,

When lil A was that age he was often transfused every four to five weeks.  If he had a slight cold he would be closer to 4 weeks otherwise he would be closer to 5 weeks.  Any drop in hg should be negligible, unless if in another week or so you notice a drastic change in his color - but I highly doubt that there will be.

When checking for color always look in the child's mouth - if the inside of the mouth and tongue are pale then chances are the child is anemic.  The color of the face often appears pale when kids are sick anyway and often does not indicate low hemoglobin.

I hope that Ayesha feels better very soon:)

Ash,

I didn't start wheatgrass until much later, simply because I didn't know about them.  Andy would know best when it is a good time to start wheatgrass and other supplements.

I do think that 400 IU of vitamin D is a good place to start for now.

Also see this link for supplements that we have recommended for children in the past:

Wheatgrass is a food product and can be taken at any age. You may have trouble giving it to a baby because of the taste.

I was for a long, long time by the family who/from my youngest niece (bad English but you know what I want to say;)) I spent the night there and noticed liquid vit D. Is that good stuff? I have such idea I will take it better in liquid forms. So works it well? This contains also a tip for the owner of the topic :)
