Title: Two+ year old diagnosed Thal Intermedia to undergo transfusion

My two year daughter was diagnosed as Thal Intermedia about six weeks back. She had Hb of about 6.7. We were told that if it goes below 6, we should begin transfusion. Yesterday, her Hb tests show that it has dropped to 5.7. We have to go for transfusion now.

Any recommendation and advice would help us a lot!

Has she ever had a transfusion before?

I must keep it short, because it's very late here.

No, she has not had a transfusion before.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your reference to Sharmin's recent post on what to expect during transfusions. It is indeed very informative. We are now more prepared and know what to expect.
