hello everyone,
im new to ths site.
im thal minor but my hubby is normal. i have 2 sons.
the elder one when i got his blood count done at the age of 4 for malaria, his haemoglobin was 9.5.
he looks little pale but is okay in energy.sometimes he is complaining about not being able to stand for a long time and wanna sit. but he never asks for a nap if he sleep fopr 10 hrs at night.
pls tell me if his hb was normal for that age or not.
im planning to get him tested once i go india in march.

Rozmeen,
Did he have fever or any infection at that time? Because infection can also lower the hb ,and it is also a possibility that he inherited the trait from you,a test called hb electrophoresis will confirm it.

Hi rozmeen,
Hb of 9.5 is common for thal minor. It's important that he gets good nutrition and that he rests when needed.
