Unfortunately I have to inform you, that Pan (user name Baal) is not doing well.

I am his sister and to be honest this forum is quite a big challenge as I don't know how to use it... However - I thought his friends in the forum should know that he is going thru a very hard and serious time...

He had a preasure at the head and lungs... Therefore breathing and sleeping was very difficult - since last TUE they kept him in hospital and I am so concerned and worried but to all of you knowing him, he is as always so calm and wonderful, not complaining how he is feeling.

Please wish us luck - on Monday they decided to make a check up of the heart, as they don't know what is wrong.. Doc wants to place a cathether to check it. As you can imagine, I am very nervous..

I will keep you updated !

PS: We are not native speakers, in case some / mediical expressions are wrong, kindly appolgize this.

It was lovely of you to update us on what's happening with Pan. You must have known how many people on this site follow each other's news and care about them even though they have not met.

Pan's posts on the site have been very eagerly read. The wonderful love story "an encounter on the net" was so moving, we are all waiting for the next installment ---. I have reread it so often. It makes me realise what a wonderful strong character he is. It's funny how although there is a very sad side to the tale, the strongest message from it all is the wonderful love that emerges between two people whose souls connect!

Tell him from us, we are thinking of him and wishing him a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with you all. He's very lucky to having loving people around him. But then again, it sounds like he's the kind of person who just attracts them.

here a short update as promised... Panos is giving his regards to you - I had to carry the laptop to the hospital to show him your messages... Guess it's highly appreciated, you made him smile !

Yesterday Panos got the intracardiac catheter test..... He was so brave and strong - unbelievable !! - Guess I was more nervous than him while I was sitting outside and waiting. The whole procedure made him somehow weak so today, he was not feeling so well.

The preasure of the lungs has become a little bit better.. Panos has a pneumonia - first they told us, after alarming us, it could be pulmonary embolism.... This was a nightmare....

Besides that he is getting antibotics as well for an infection that he has at the gall-bladder and the latest information I got from him was, that he has to stay now further 2 weeks as they want to change the medicaments for the heart and keep him under control.

So that's all I can tell you for the time-being. Once again thanks for your prays - it helped us out and supported us :)

"The pulmonary system brings oxygen into the body and infuses it into the blood. It also removes carbon dioxide and other waste products from the blood and expels them from the body. Disease of the lungs and pulmonary system affect this delicate exchange and impact the amount of oxygen circulating in the body. Lung function can be assessed with the use of pulmonary function tests.
Pulmonary hypertension involves an increase in blood pressure in the lung."

I'm not a doctor or medical person - maybe Danielle can shed more light onto this condition, but I thought I would share this information with you. I think though that since he is in hospital and under the care of the doctors, they will be able to keep an eye on him and give him the right treatment to give him relief from pain, and get him back on track.

The defintion of hypertony:

In relation to the heart, this means the heart muscle can no longer work as well as it once did. If severe enough, this can lead to the condition known as congestive heart failure, where the heart is not strong enough to push fluids through the body, resulting in fluid build up (edema). Swelling, especially in the lower legs and ankles becomes evident. There are drugs used to treat this, but the results depend on the extent of damage to the heart.

Pan is under good care and we can be sure that he is being treated for this. We will have to wait and see how serious this condition is and how he responds to the treatment.

Sorry that I did not find time to give you an update.... But the last weeks had been for all of us extremly exhausted.. Last week Baal had been sent home from hospital - he was not feeling so good but the doctor decided, that circumstances were okay to go home... Unfortunately, I had to bring him back 1 day later in the night to the emergency as the issue started again including a very painful gallbladder infection..... So same matter... after several blood transfusions (HB is now up to 9 -which is high for him) and I don't know how many new medicine for the heart, we hope that he is doing better !

Yesterday Baal returned again home from hospital, :biggrin
So, I think we might reply in the evening together - seems he thinks now, it might be easier for me to write as I am using more frequently my English at work...

Feeling good and must admit that with almost 10hb level (got 2 units with the level of 9.7hb on Monday night before leaving the hospital... was fighting hard with the doc to get it) - things are much much easier... Maybe I told you told my regular level for the last years dropped down to 6.5 and then I used to get 2-3 units... So for me this is really wonderful....

After I was sleeping yesterday the whole day at home - this was impossible in the hospital, I have the feeling that the recovery started...

Of course the gallbladder is still infected and the spleen is giving trouble, nobody of the docs wanted to take the risk for a surgery due to the new pl hupertonia..

But they told me that there might be possibilities to somehow switch-off the spleen from the blood circulation without having to remove it. I have to wait.

Before I went to the hospital I used to take there pills per day, now I have to take 10 but thats how it is..

So those are my news .... I wanted to thank all of you, who were praying for me and giving their thoughts to me - furthermore I want mention that my family supported me - especially my small sister (Manda(, who was so kind to update you... Thanks again my dear friends !!

It's so good to hear your well and on the way to a speedy recovery at home. Hospitals are great to get a quick fix on a situation but the most important place is to be home for the best recovery around loved ones and friends.

So now rest up and whilst your resting I have a job for you to do please. My son who turns 12 years old today (1st September) informed me the other day that at his tennis club they were installing a Foosball machine and that when he goes for tennis lessons he would like to go to the club a little earlier as he wants to play Foosball.

I thought Foosball that's what Panos is a world champ on. Who better to get him to train my son. So Panos I put forward to you a proposal, any handy tips of how to master the art of Foosball? Now when and if my son claims your Foosball champiionship ONE DAY! In his speech he can say THANK YOU TO MY FRIEND PANOS THE WORLDS GREATEST CHAMPION IN FOOSBALL WHO TAUGHT ME EVERYTHING I KNOW - This is for you Panos. :biggrin
