I was just wondering if alcohol effects thal minors in a more negative way then someone without
Should it totally be avoided or is a couple drinks a night acceptable?
I was also wondering if medicine OTC or otherwise would have a different half life for people with thal since their red blood cells are smaller, more numerous, and do not last as long as normal cells
Does alcohol weaken the red blood cells further?
Just wondering about general things like this
Thanks!

reason why I ask is I thought I saw a post on here before on perhaps medicine treats thal's differently due to their blood count being different
am I imagining things?
thx

About the medicines - I always have a problem taking them - Any regular adult dose causes so many side effects, they make me very sick, - I can only manage quarter doses - like those for pediatrics.
I have only recently begun to relate this to my thal status.

Indeed like if I take a 24 hour antihistamine..I get all kinds of side effects
None drowsy still makes me a bit drowsy..and thats only suppose to occur if you take too much of it
Just curious if its unhealthy for us to take normal medicine doses

I would love to know more about this too. Sometimes one beer has made me sick. One glass of wine. And other times its normal. Some medicines I take for allergy makes me sleep for almost a whole day and have crazy side effects. Bad dreams. Disoriented. Just wondering if otc meds and alcohol effect me different than most.

Hi All
If you have a low body weight the adult dose of medicine may not be correct.
The chemist told me if you are over 50 kgs the adult dose should ve ok, but sometimes the dose should be work out per kg.
Hope this help.
