Hi Guyz,

Our forum member SF discovered and shared info about this new blood processing technology with me so I thought I should share it with you guyz too.

Although above is a company's product (just to be clear I don't want to look like a spammer :biggrin) but what really appealed me was the concept behind it.

Has anyone heard about or gone through this technique. And could It really be end to our fear of transfusion transmitted diseases?

You are talking about washed blood , In Bahrain we take washed blood. Because some patients had allergic with normal blood. However, normal blood the best it lasts more than a washed blood, but washed blood had been clean, because some components of the blood occurs allergies.

No my friend, I am aware of the wash blood technique which is mainly used to reduce chances of allergic reactions and removing unwanted components from blood. The intercept technique, however,  serves as an alternative for blood screening and is being used in some places in europe.

Yes, this is a new technology but is not yet approved by the FDA and is not available in the US. Hopefully, all will go well and it eventually will be approved.
