Title: Folic Acid
Post by: CLS on September 22, 2010, 03:59:29 AM
My daughter has HbH and has been taking 1 mg Folic Acid from 1 month old.  She is 3.5 years old now.  Does she need more Folic Acid than 1 mg?

Most recommendations are for 1 mg folic acid daily. Some also recommend 1-3 mg daily for children. Adult thals take as much as 5-10 mg daily. If you think a higher dose may have some benefit, it would be safe to try a higher dose for awhile and see if you notice any differences.
