I have never heard of this before...is it something you just buy at the drug store?

You should be able to find IP6 at many health food stores, possibly drug stores and most online vitamin companies. In addition to being a mild iron chelator, it is also a good antioxidant, which can help prevent damage from free iron.

I order IP6 from puritan.com. I've used this company for many years and they have good prices and good quality. There are many reputable vitamin companies, but I use Puritan more because they have sales all the time. Are you taking folic acid?
