Title: Introducing Our New Special Moderator for this Board, Eugenio LaMesa
Post by: Andy Battaglia on February 28, 2012, 03:44:15 PM
I am pleased to announce that Eugenio LaMesa, co-founder of Cure Thalassemia has agreed to be our moderator for this new board. This is a major triumph for thal patients and their families, who will now have access to answers to their questions, from the top bone marrow transplant experts on earth. These advisers will include Dr Sodani and Dr Lucarelli. I have previously met both gentlemen and was greatly impressed by both their knowledge and their humanity. This is an incredible development for thalpal and I hope we can take full advantage of this alliance.

Because all of these advisers from Cure Thalassemia are extremely busy with expanding their efforts to cure thals around the world, I do request patience from our members. Answers will come, but please have patience.

For now, I just want to give a big  :welcome to our new moderator, Eugenio LaMesa!

Thank you.....and hoping to hear alot from Eugenio Lamesa.

I would like to know how many thals in the late teens and above have been 'cured' of thal major and how successful it has been or has there been complications after BMT or CBT.

Thanks Andy for the introduction and the warm welcome, and to everybody for the nice words.

I co-founded Cure Thalassemia with my best friend Dr. Pietro Sodani (who works since 10 years with prof. Lucarelli, the inventor of BMT, and he has done 400 BMT), after having visited thalassemia transfusions centers in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. I was so touched for what I saw, that I decided to do something about it.
I then realized that there is a lot of excellent information about the treatment, but little about the cure, and this one of the reasons why we decided to create a website with as many accurate information as possible:
http://www.curethalassemia.org/ (http://www.curethalassemia.org/)

We also have a very detailed FAQ page, and we update it regularly:
http://www.curethalassemia.org/faq/ (http://www.curethalassemia.org/faq/)

Our focus is 100% on the cure, especially Bone Marrow Transplant (which exists since 30 years), both from matched and unmatched donor.

I commit to answer to all the questions, but please give me time, because whenever I don't know the answer, I must talk to Dr. Sodani and/or Prof. Lucarelli, to find the right answer.

I'm very very happy of this new collaboration and I'll write more about in the Cure Thalassemia blog.

Whoever has questions for me or Dr. Sodani, can contact us through this page:
http://www.curethalassemia.org/contact/ (http://www.curethalassemia.org/contact/)

This is the beginning of a long journey that I hope we will all do together.
