Hello!

I don't drink any tea or coffee. I know it's good for us but I really don't like it.

I drink camomile tea but I don't think it is the same because it doesn't have any theine.

I know it helps but it's been impossible for me to find a kind of tea that I could like.

Any advice?

Laura.

Yup I drink tea too! Any specific brand that works better?

Green tea tends to have more antioxidants but any black tea will also provide similar properties.

Is there any specific tea which helps throwing out maximum iron?

Yes I love tea and I drink it twice a day. Once in morning, and another cup in the evening.

All tea inhibits iron absorption. Green tea has the highest level of antioxidants but black tea also has value.

Alright Andy. I talked to my father regarding this topic and that I would start drinking green tea soon as well. My father told me this long ago, but I made it unheard thinking it won't matter. Thanks. :)

Hi, I am on the same regime :)
I used to drink ~4 cups of coffee a day, back in Italy, but no tea.

its funny, I've never heard anything about drinking Tea helping with Iron removal and in the past week, I've heard it from two different sources. lol I'm more of a coffee then tea drinker, occasionally I'll ave a cup on Indian black tea....guess I should take it as a sign to start drinking tea more often...

One of the funniest things I have seen at conferences is the doctors discussing the iron inhibiting properties of tea. They literally scratch their heads as they admit that tea really has this property. Here they are talking about all the long researched meds and then they are forced to acknowledge that thals really should be frequent tea drinkers. There are plenty of foods and supplements that help prevent the damage that iron does. It isn't just about meds. A wise thal can contribute to good health just by following a good antioxidant rich diet. My own long term observations show that tea and natural vitamin E are two of the most important things that any thal can take. Combine these with chelation compliance and exercise, as simple as regularly walking stairs, and you will see thals living longer and staying healthier.

Ya I found out the tea from a physiology textbook for a class I'm taking, not the docs...I guess I will have to start switching my coffee out for tea and taking vitamin e.

Thanks Andy!

I love tea, as I said in my earlier posts, twice a day (morning & evening). When there was Sunny weather back in May, I used to drink one more cup of tea (green tea this time with no sugarfree substance) in 5 in the evening seeing the shining sun but now as it's cloudy, I don't have that mood. But I'll soon start taking green tea again. :)

Today I created a new drink !

1 cup water
1 tea bag green tea
1 teaspoon nigella seeds (kalwonji) powder freshly grounded
2 teaspoon natural honey
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
mint to taste
some ginger

I didn't like the 'aroma' but taste was good. I'll try few variations tomorrow with lemon. This tea would be very beneficial if taken regularly.

The Nigella seed should be cooked briefly in a dry pan until you hear them popping and then ground. According to the Koran, Nigella cures all things except death. I don't know about that, but we have excellent reports about its use in hepatitis.

According to the Koran

Its actually not in Koran but in books of sayings/acts of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Koran is interpreted in the context of these supplementary books called Ahadeeth.

I'm a tea lover and drink it twice a day, but I'm concerned about the effects of caffeine and bone loss. Also I've become somewhat "hyper-sensitive" to caffeine, where normally people will become more tolerant and need larger doses for the same effect.
Has anyone encountered anything like this?

Actually Coffee contain caffeine and Tea contain tannin. And the effect of caffeine on bone loss is not known by me. Please post if you are having more info.

You are correct, however tea also contains a lot of caffeine. Because caffeine is a diuretic, it causes calcium to be removed from the body in urine. I'm not sure if it directly removes calcium from the bones, but it most likely prevents it from being best absorbed into the body.

There are many sources you can read on regarding the effects of caffeine and bone loss, here is one that I found on google http://www.osteopenia3.com/bones-caffeine.html

I have been thinking that it may be wise to buy cheap calcium supplements (in addition to the one I normailly take with Vit. D and Magnesium) and just drink them with the tea so that if there is any binding to calcium it will be from the supplement with plenty left over to allow for absorption as well.

I drink black tea frequently but coffee in the morning. I recently switched the coffee for white tea that I sip thoughoug the day. I miss the caffeine jolt, but I'll live. I'll be switching back to green tea when the weather cools here. I have no explanation of why I like green tea better in the fall. ???

You have same ideology as mine Bobby for green tea, haha, but except for me, I like to drink green tea in hot summer or when the Sun is shining nicely through my balcony where I sit on the swing and drink it thinking my good past and other numerous thoughts. But it's cloudy now so I've no mood for green tea as well.

Taking Tea only blended with milk and nothing else like black or green. When it is blended with milk it's automatically become calcium intake.

Thal should take 500ml Milk daily by whatever form whether it is Milk, Tea, Coffee with milk or it is Curd, Lassi or Chhass(Curd+Water)
