This is a significant issue for older thals. I hope some progress is made in preventing it. I am fairly certain that this is what Lisa's dad also had.

Panos, are you in any treatment? Is a liver transplant a possibility?

This is something that worries me the most.

Especially, given that HCV treatments are both vile and ineffective in chronic infections.

And, a liver transplant is nearly as complex as a heart one or BMT - the only interesting news on this front has been some recent successes on partial transplants.
