Dear all,
As per all your suggestions, i spoke to the doctor regarding increase in the dose of Asunra from 200 mg to 400 mg for my daughter whose weight is 12.5 kg.
But she suggested to increase only 50 mg. That is total 250 mg.
Her ferritin is above 2000.
Pls advise.
Thanks
Rima

Hi Rima
I think 250 mg asunra is low dose as her wight is 12 kg and ferritin is high enough. I give my daughter 400mg asunra by splitting the dose. Her current ferritin is 1300 and weight is 12 kg.

You should at least give him 300 or 350, if not 400.

I would disagree with 350-400 for a three year old child. Asunra is known to effect kidneys and with 350-400 you need lots and lots of water to keep the kidneys in good shape. How in the world a 3 three year old can consume 5-6 glasses of water a day (atleast). For a developing child, Asunra can effect sensory abilities. All you need is to be consistent with the dose and chelation program.
I think maximum of 300 is fine.

Dear all,
Pls advise. After ferritin report of 3219 ng, dr suggested to switch from asunra to kelfar.
But we wud be discussing with dr and continue with asunra. Till last week we were giving her 200 mg once in mrng. Dr. had increase the dose to 250 mg before the ferritin report had come.
pls advise : what dose should i give her as some are advising for 400 mg, some max 300mg.

The dose should be about 400 mg daily, but Canadian Family has raised a valid point about the necessity of hydration and the limits of small children. At this time I would agree that raising the dose to 250 is a good step, although inadequate. I would suggest using this dose for now and at the same time, making a great effort to train her towards a goal of sufficient hydration to handle the meds. Once she can take enough liquid daily, I would suggest raising the dose to 400, but split into two doses of 200 mg each and take morning and evening.

Agreed with Andy. Please train your child to take enough liquids and splitting the dose.

Thank you all.
