Title: hemoglobin level

My two year old son diagonised with beta trail his hb level is 7.8 dose it can be improved. His serum iron value is 81

Hi sugama,

Has his Hb level been this low for awhile? It is below what is normal for thal minor.

First time we had his blood test. he was suffering with viral fever last one week.  Doctor has suggested folic acid, Vitamin B12 and some iron suppliments after checking iron serum. I want to know what maximum Hb he can reach

Hb in thalassemia minor is typically 10g/L lower than average. A normal child under 4yrs average 110g/L, so your son's hb should be 100g/L
