Hello there,
I am genuinely amazed by this website and all the current members for being so supportive of each other. Truly delighted in becoming a new member!
I am from Malaysia, diagnosed with beta-thalassemia minor five years ago. I do have two questions regarding the symptoms that i am currently experiencing for years now, although i do take medications.
1. Is it normal for a beta-thalassemia minor patient like me to be pale looking, especially having very pale lips?
And,
2. Experiencing dizziness, nausea and slight headache most of the time after a light jog for less than ten minutes.
Thank you and God bless.

Emily, your symptoms are common in thal minor and directly related to the lower than normal hemoglobin level found in minor. Do you know your Hb level?

Thank you for replying, Andy. My current HGB level is 11.3

Hi Emily,
Your Hb level is just a little below normal, so not too bad. I would recommend daily supplements of 1-2 mg folic acid, a B Complex 100 and 400 IU natural vitamin E. They all help to build red blood cells and keep them healthy. I am sure you already know that you have to pace yourself with activity and recognize your limits.

Thank you again, Andy. I will take note on your recommended supplements and advice.
God bless
