Title: do children have the same mutations as their parents
Post by: asma on June 13, 2013, 05:48:01 PM
Hi everyone
My daughter is thalassemia intermedia. My
Understanding is that she got this from both me and my husband.
Since I am cap + 1 silent carrier ( I got this from my father )and my husband is thalassemia minor.
My question is would she have the exact same mutation as me
And my husband.

The child would receive one beta globin gene from each parent. In this case it means that the child received one beta thal globin gene from each parent.
