Title: silent carriers
Post by: asma on June 27, 2013, 07:12:28 PM
Hi everyone
I am a silent carriers of beta thalassemis mutation cap +1 but my hb electropherosis and cbc are perfectly normal. So am I a thalassemia minor? I would have never ever found this out without my daughter being diagnosed as thalassemia intermedia. What do u all think.

Some use a category of thal minima to describe the silent carrier state, while others use minor. As you have learned, this silent mutation can cause problems when combined with another thal minor gene. Intermedia can be the result.
