Title: IVF -- Can we get absolutely normal child with it?
Post by: Shimani on July 29, 2013, 07:07:55 PM
Hi,

I have beta thal E intermedia and my husband is healthy.  Is there any way to get absolutely thal trait free child from IVF? Also, pls suggest what is a better option -- gonadotrophin therapy or IVF -- if natural conception doesn't occur?

Since you carry beta thal and HbE, all your children would carry one or the other, but not both. I assume you mean your husband is not a carrier, so your children would have no possibility of having anything more than beta minor or be HbE carriers. Neither poses any danger, so there would be no reason for IVF.
