Title: Folic Acid dose
Post by: Caroline01 on February 13, 2014, 08:42:09 AM
Ok. So I have started on the suggested supplements for thal minor to try and give me some more energy. The vit B-100 complex. Within that it has 400ug folic acid. I also have separate folic acid, 400ug. So in total that's 800ug folic acid per day. Is this a suitable amount for thal minor? I am confused between ug & mg! Anyone know? Thankyou.

P.s I am also taking vit E and an osteoguard pill that contains calcium, magnesium, vit D & K

The unit ug is the same as mcg, so 800 ug=800 mcg. I would usually suggest a dose of 1000-5000 mcg for thal minor, so it's within the low end range.

Thank you Andy. I will add another 400ug FAcid so that will 1200mcg. How do you know which end of 1000mcg to 5000mcg to use? It seems like a large range?
