Title: Bruising
Post by: love2cave on May 15, 2014, 11:51:38 PM
I found out that I have Beta Thal Minor about a year ago.  I have issues with bruising when I have a hard work out or when I do strenuous yard work.  The bruises show up about a day after the activity and is located in the muscle groups that I worked out.  The bruises last about 2 weeks.
Currently I have bruises over most of both thighs and tricept area on the arms.  Are there specific supplements I can use to help with this bruising?
I need to keep up with the workouts since I am a martial arts instructor.

Vitamin C will usually help reduce bruising, as bruising is caused by weak capillaries and they can be strengthened with vitamin C. Because oxidation is a characteristic of thalassemia, antioxidant nutrients like C and E are often depleted, and should be supplemented. 500-1000 mg C daily and 400 IU of natural vitamin E are both recommended.

Andy,
Thank you!  I have a long list of things to take and it is good to know which direction to go in.
