Hi,
My son 9 years old having HbE-Beta Thalassemia.He is on regular transfusion from last one and half year ( transfusion gap is 5 week).
His weight is 23 Kg,current ferritine is 850.
we have planned to start Asunra 600mg, please need your advice / comments on this.

Dip,
Based on our experience, I will suggest to start on a very low dose initially (e.g. 10mg/kg weight or so) and then gradually increase the dose to the final dosage amount. Also try to give exjade with food to minimize stomach discomfort.

I agree. I like to see patients start at 1/3 dose for two weeks before deciding to raise the dose. A slow introduction greatly reduces the early side effects. And make sure the child stays well hydrated.

Due to my Profession I may have to stay Two Years in South Korea, Do you have any experience or information about the treatment center in South Korea (Seoul)

Just adding my two cents.
Our daughter Little Miss A is 12 years old and 65lbs. She is taking 375mg of exjade everyday. Her ferritin is below 1000.
I think 600mg is a bit two high, how did you come up with 600mg dose. Did the doctor recommended it.

the above dose is suggested by doctor.
But currently I am giving slightly leass than 400mg.
