Title: Hair salon???
Post by: Christine Mary on November 15, 2006, 06:24:33 PM
Hi guys,

Another silly question. If i want to get my hair dyed and cut, can I take Lauryn in the salon with me? I will have my mother-in -law,or grandmother there to help, but I was curious about the fumes.????????? Where I go, the smell is really not bad at all.

Thanks

Hi Christine!

I think that question relates to all babies rather than Thal. babies. It really depends on the baby if she is comfortable with so much things going around her and if smell of the fumes bothers her or not.

Take care, Peace!

Hi Christine,

How well is the salon ventilated? It makes a big difference. Many toxic chemicals are routinely used in beauty salons, especially if they also do artificial nails, but the use of a ventilation system greatly reduces exposure.

The exposure level was significantly lower in the salons with local exhaust ventilation than in the salons with no ventilation.

I think you come up with a lot of good questions. If this was silly, there wouldn't be studies about the exposure to chemicals. Please note that the concern is for the prolonged exposure that may be a job hazard for workers.

Hi Christine.
I would add to the already discussed topic .That a hair dressing salon could be a place with the possibility of habouring all kinds of germs.  I personally would not encourage anyone to take any baby, let alone one with an already compromissing Immune system to spend time in there.
that is because everyone from every walks of life visit the hairdresser at  onetime or another.
People likes little baby and they usually likes to come close to observe or even wants to touch the baby.
She is still too young to be put at such risks.
Still the responsibility of your baby rest with you and you know what is best for her.
