My son is thalassemic major(7 yrs). Today during transfusion he has asked most difficult questions - " when will I get cured? why me? will I get cured when I grow older?" I could not help but crying. You also may have faced these questions from your child. Please tell me how have you faced/answered these questions. Thanks

It will be better in just a few years. Please let him know that thousands of researchers are working on treatments that will make life much easier for him as he gets older. The need for transfusions will be greatly reduced in the future as new drugs that are currently being developed gain approval. The results of gene therapy for a cure are also looking very good. It will be much better for thals before he is an adult.

Well said Andy.
Anjan keep encouraging him with drawing, sports, stories and other things so he will not remember/think about these hard questions. :)
