As an adult male with Thal trait, is it ok to take supplements with iron or should we avoid iron?
-
Thal minors should never take a supplement with iron unless they have had a full iron panel done that diagnosed iron deficiency. Iron can build up in the body if taken when not needed and the Hb is lower than normal, as is typical with thal minor. Long term iron can cause serious health issues if the iron is not needed.

Hello Andy,
My younger sister also Thal Minor and HB 8.00 but getting pregnancy doctor advice increase HB minimum 10.Will she take Zepiron or Folic acid. Please advice..

Thanks Andy. Thrown that to trash. Will take the gummy multivitamin without iron from now. Got a box from Costco. It does not have iron

Lokkhi,
All pregnant women should take folate and thal minors should take a higher dose, 2-5 mg daily during the pregnancy. Iron should be taken if iron deficiency is suspected.
