I am a Male, 42 from India. I was first diagnosed in June 1994 with Beta Thalassemia Intermedia by a hematologist in India. That time I was advised to take only 5mg folic acid tablet per day and nothing else. All siblings and parents were tested and all were thalassemia minor trait.
From 1994 I regularly took folic acid and then occassionally and then very sporadically kept on taking it.
Other health findings in my body by year:
Year 2006 - Gallstones detected
Year 2007 - treated for Lymph Node TB for first 6 months (this was my worst time)
Stomach burning, uncomfortable liver and breathing problems continued. Folic acid continue all 2007 to keep RBCs awake.
Late 2007 I moved to the USA carrying severe problems in me.
Late 2007 - diagnosed hypothyroidism
Late 2007 - diagnosed pernicious anemia
A Levothyroxine and B12 shot (Cyanacobalamin 1000 mcg) was started.
Stomach burns continued and a wrong diagnosis of GERD kept on. Prevacid did not help not did Pantoprazole.
USA diagnosed me with beta thalassemia minor but symptoms of those like intermedia.
Finally a Indian-American doctor conducted a endoscopy and diagnosed H Pylori Late 2008 in USA.
The H Pylori treatment also was heavy for 14 days.
By this time I was not taking daily folic acid but took only B12 shots.
Excessive B12 shots (first 6 weeks and then 11 months) caused my kidneys to get overloaded and have some red acne on my back.
The USA doctors decided to curtail B12 1000 mcg dose to once per quarter with Levothyroxine reaching 88mcg.
My best time on health had begun in 2009-2010 in USA. Folic acid was sproadically taken.
Vit D deficiency was diagnosed and I corrected it with 2000 IU per day gel caps.
Peripheral neuropathy was diagnosed in 2010 as I had numbness on palms. The culprit was suppose to be Isoniazid and Rifampin.
I returned back to India for good in 2012.
And,
For 2013 I took some just four B12 cynacobalamin 500 mcg shots.
For 2014 I took some two shots. Then stopped because of a churlish reason that 'enough is enough and these shots pain'
I also did not take folic acid in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and had forgotten that I must take it occassionally.
I had high Uric acid levels that was left untreated by doctors. (7.49, 8.1, 8.4 levels)
Diagnosed of Angioedema in 2016-2017 allergy due to certain foods like guava, spinach and cauliflower and taro leafs.
Early 2017 (Jan) I started falling ill with shortness of breath, heavy feeling in abdomen, liver, lack of apetite, stiff body.
Feb-2017 was my worst month of frailing health I just could not breathe normally.
A detailed blood test CBC, LFT, Kidney and Urine analysis was done.
i) RBC count low, WBC high, high liver enzymes and high uric acid.
A gastroenterologist was consulted recently.
He asked to me again start Folic Acid and B12, in return he gave some Probiotics. Avil was started to adjust Angioedema
Again tests were conducted.
ii) RBC count up, WBC marginally up, liver enzymes same, TIBC, Iron and Ferritin all normal. (I drink moderate tea)
A febuxostat 40 mg has also been started daily to cure high uric acid.
I also started taking Pyridoxine Hydrochloride 20mg tablet to improve my nerve functions this week. I will stop this after 1 or 2 months.
I still have some combo B12-B9-B3 shots to be taken in coming 4 weeks.
Does B3 in the shots could cause high uric acid in my body? Niacin is good for body but?????
Questions:
a) How to get rid of High Uric acid permanantly? Is thalassemia root cause of high uric acid?
b) Should Cyanacobalamin shots be taken or should I go for Methylcobalamin B12?
c) Should my quarterly shots be a combination of B12 + B9 + B6 or should I take only pure B12 or take B12 + B9?
d) Suggest something for healthy liver. High SGPT(38) High SGOT(43) with high indirect bilirubin of 5.76 is discomfort for me.
e) Should folic acid, B6 be required for a thal patient to be healthy?
f) Is my angioedema facial swelling related to Gilbert's Syndrome or Nephrotic Syndrome?
g) My lowest low of health is everyday after 4PM and remains low till 10PM.
h) Metabolism is very very poor.
Please help with your comments. Its complicated. Sorry for unstructured writing yet I gave all info that I recollect from 23 years.

What is your Hb level and has it stayed stable over the years? Do you have the results of a complete blood count? High uric acid is related to the ineffective erythropoiesis of thalassemia. Gallstones are also related to the high turnover of red blood cells. Have you ever tried milk thistle herb? It is very helpful to the liver and other organs and may help keep the liver function tests normal.
-
Hi Andy,
My Hb levels over all the past five years have been not so bad.
RBC count 4.31 and Hb is 11.1(Feb-2017 without folic acid consumed in 3 yrs)
RBC count 6.36 and Hb is 11.4(last week after 15 days of 5mg folic acid twice a day)
Even when I felt awkward and hard breathing, my Hb levels were always good.
10-15 yrs back Hb levels used to be 9.6 to 9.8 but these years after the 5 years of B12 shots in USA the Hb levels are good.
My own assessment & observation about my own health in last 3 weeks is:
Chest X-Ray turned normal. Lungs are clear.
A 6-lead ECG 10 days back turned out to be normal. It was taken on a day when I was harping for breath.
1)
my liver is utterly turned poor with high bilirubin.
The direct bilirubin is not very high but it is high.
The indirect bilirubin is quite high due to the ongoing hemolysis.
2) High Uric acid
Some 5 or 6 years back I managed to pass enough urine out of my body
From last 2.5 yrs not enough urine went out. Thats when blood tests showed High Uric acid of 7.49(Nov-2014)
Last week Uric Acid shot to 9. (It could also be because I was on B12 shots that had Nicotinamide?)
3) To some extent gall bladder / gall stones maybe the culprit.
I have been given ursodesoxycholic acid tablets to eradicate any cholestrol stones that maybe causing discomfort.
The same was given exactly 10 yrs back for the same purpose.
4) Shape of the RBCs
I think the shape of the RBCs could have gone awry and could have become oblong/sharp making their movement in arteries difficult.
If a human body has blood circulating that contains high bile and high uric acid, it is bound to obstruct oxygen to body cells?
My health is some 20% to 25% improved to what it was between 22 Feb to 2nd March 2017. It was way bad, I would not have been able to sit, write and type this much.
It means:
The B12 shots + Folic Acid did improve health.
The tablets to reduce the uric acid could be working
However the angioedema features still remain.
The discomfort in abdomen still remains. I still feel muscles tightened in body.
I still feel a bloated stomach daily. One Rabeprazole is being taken daily morning.
I need relief, quick relief from:
liver problems and the breathing problems I encounter every few days.
the myalgia in my chest bones and the muscles around. It is quite painful and noticeable pain on sneeze.
on the feverish feeling on my body that I get from last 3 or 4 weeks. There is no fever but I feel feverish inside.
NOTE: Milk thistle capsules OTC were consumed in 2008-2009 in USA. It did not help me much.
-
Any update on the above note wherein some more details were shared?
What could be root cause for the myalgia pain in my chest bones / muscles?
Inspite of folic acid consumption from Feb 23, inspite of plenty of B12 shots since Feb 27 why are my palms still looking palish white even today? Is liver not able to store anything?
Could it be that plenty of new RBCs are getting born and plenty are getting dissolved and thus fatigue and uneasiness remains?
How do we stop this?
Has my liver something to do with this? LFT tests are not that bad.
Does kidney has something to do given high uric acid in blood?
Will the uneasiness go away when my uric acid is brought down and Febuxostat tablet is stopped?
And will things improve if Ursodesoxycholic Acid tablet is stopped?
I was hoping good improvements over 35 days of medical treatment but seems only few percent has improved.
I need some guidance on what could be happening and what could be my next steps?
-
My Situation worsened after consuming Febuxostat and Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets for 17 days.
Heart Pulse 104
Blood Pressure normal
Palms turned more pale than earlier. Then, I stopped taking those tablets.
And,
On 3rd Apr blood tests were conducted. Hb is now down to 9.2 from 11.61 where it was on Mar 9. This is inspite of two B12 shots(methylcobalamin) of 500mcg taken.
TSH turned out 5.7 from 3.2 where it was on Mar 9.
RBC Count went down to 5.1 from 6.36 where it was on Mar 9.
It means things are not working good with those two tablets given to me to reduce uric acid and rid cholestrol gallstones.
Is thalassemia causing trouble to liver?
Or
Is troubled liver causing disturbance to red cells and Hb?
Or
Is underactive thyroid causing such troubles?
What may have been the root cause of Hb falling drastically?

Febuxostat contains sulfur, which once again leads to the possibility of favism. Have you found out if alpha thal mutations were looked for in addition to deletions?
-
Thanks Andy. No, I did not get a chance to go to the research centre since then to confirm if the alpha gene was "presence" or "deletion" in Southern Blot. I am barely mobile from last 15-20 days with excessive shortness of breath.
Replacing Febuxostat 40mg with Zyloric (Allapurinol 100mg) has not helped me much. Zyloric 100 mg x 3 per day.
If it was 16 continuous days of Febuxostat 40 mg x 2 that caused me immense harm, the Zyloric caused similar discomfort to me within 7th day of taking 3 tablets per day. I reduced it to 2 per day and from now on will take only one per day.
Any allopathy attempt to reduce Uric acid is not working effectively atleast on my 'sensitive' body.
In between if there is a small spontaneous angioedema attack, I consume cetrizine 10mg or Avil 25mg that again makes me drowsy.
Angioedema is something that needs urgent attention along with controlling hemolysis and stabilising my Hb (it was 11.6 on March 9 versus 9.3 on 3rd April).
I will also get some tests done to rule out auto immune disorders related to Thyroid gland.
-
Regarding lymph nodes, I had enlarged lymph nodes since 2010 (one evening they suddenly grew like anything) and no medicine worked. I started learning more about it in later 2012-13 and was afraid I might have lymphoma (lymph node cancer). In 2016 with diagnosis of my weak eyes, I started drinking carrot juice daily.
And in few days they shrunk like they didn't exist to begin with! I was like what's causing this, I only changed carrot juice in my diet. On googling I found an experiment of lady who was cured from stage 3/4 lymphoma and tumor by just drinking carrot juice in large quantities daily.
It's an excellent anti-oxidant I then realized. I still drink it daily.
May be you give a shot too. It might cure some of the problems unknowingly lol. It has great properties to fight cancer too and I now recommend it to every thal to drink it (or eat it if you can but drinking enough quantity is recommended).
-
I have requested the research centre in Mumbai if alpha gene mutation noting was for "presence" or "deletion".
Two of the senior research scientists who conducted are still working there.
I am awaiting their reply.

Allapurinol 100 mg turned to be damaging to me as was the Febuxostat (to reduce my uric acid).
Even after stopping these tablets and taking 10 mg folic acid per day, the hemoglobin did not rise.
SGOT shot up 67.7, uric acid shot 10.0
Anti TPO is 156
Anti Thyroglobulin Antibody & Anti Nuclear Antibodies are normal
Complement C3 is low
Complement C4 is normal but lower side
TSH went shooting high (7.06) from the normal levels where it was on 9 March. This indicates how damaging role the Febuxostat and Allpurinol may have played in the body.
MCV went down 65
Two B12 shots were taken during April and 4 sachets of Vit D3 were taken.
RBC count did not rise inspite of being on folic acid tablets twice a day
EPO (Erythropoetin) is high at 66.9.
Most symptoms remain but are improved these days as I am no longer on the disturbing tablets.
-
RBC count 4.31 and Hb is 11.1(Feb-2017 without folic acid consumed in 3 yrs)
RBC count 6.36 and Hb is 11.4(last week after 15 days of 5mg folic acid twice a day)
This reads pretty interesting. How can the RBC count change that dramatically without affecting your total Hb? Is this due to there not being enough building blocks for the Hb and therefore an increase in the number of RBCs just leads to more but smaller RBCs, e. g. increased RBC count but decreased MCV?
jsbhavsar, do you have any data on your MCV for those two dates?
-
sofear:
Refer attached file for blood summary of important parameters.
MCV, Hb data 2017:
22 Feb: 58.4, 11.0
9 Mar: 60.8, 11.4
3 Apr: 64.9, 9.3
27 Apr: 65, 9.0, G6PD is turned positive. G6PD done first time in life.
9 May: Data Awaited and G6PD second confirmation awaited
MCV, Hb data for old dates when health was good:
8 Nov 2014: 62, 10.8
13 Apr 2016: 61.9, 11.5
I have strong suspicion that uric acid tablets Febuxostat and Allapurinol have caused my Hb to fall from 11.4 to 9.3 and now 9.
And, folic acid 5mg tablet twice per day is not working effectively. It means these tablets have taken away receptors in intestine who would convert folic acid to folate and send to bone marrow?
When all concerning tablets like Febuxostat and Allapurinol are stopped by me and, folic acid dose increased, why is Hb not rising, why is RBC count not rising and why is SGOT so high?
Even hematologist is not very sure what is going on inside.
-
Attached full file of the blood test summary:
-
G6PD Qualitative test in the hospital lab has turned out to be normal (30 mins), hematologist then said I am not a G6PD case to be considered.
10 days back a photometry test method of my blood sample said G6PD was positive (>20).
I have been prescribed Allapurinol 100mg atleast once a day or alternate day to keep uric acid in control. I am reluctant.
My left leg toe is badly paining since 4 days.
Why the platelets count fell down drastically in last 10 days? No explanation was given to me today.
Why the WBC count shot so high in last 10 days? No explanation was given to me today.
Hematologist said to ignore everything and continue on Folic Acid 5mg as RBC count has come up and so has Hb.
-
A DNA research lab report from 2001 says that Alpha thalassemia gene mutation is not present in my case.
It is just plain beta thalassemia minor but because of some severe symptoms always visible through liver, I get categorised as beta thalassemia intermedia.
Whether there are other thalassemia patients who have high hemolysis rate and as a result they have high uric acid should be seen.
Moreover, whether there are other thalassemia patients who are able to handle febuxostat and / or Allapurinol drugs should be seen.
-
(We have been discussing this case via email).
I am still inclined to believe that you are having episodes of favism, not totally unheard of among beta minors in this group. The high uric acid and sudden drop in Hb that was experienced point to an outside influence that is causing sudden hemolysis. Is your particular thal mutation one known for a more unstable hemoglobin? That is a question that should be answered. The fact that your father also has high uric acid does make me wonder if he may be a silent thal carrier. I would still like a definite answer on whether the triplicated alpha gene has been tested for. This is not normally done in DNA testing for alpha thal and must be looked for specifically. Its presence would explain everything you have told me.
-
All,
A much expected stability has been seen in my health last 3 weeks. What changed in last 3 weeks?
i) My Thyroxine Sodium dosage increased very minutely.
ii) My body weaned out all traces of Febuxostat and Allapurinol by now
iii) Ayurveda prescribed medicines to cleanse the system internally (liver, intestines)
iv) Homeopathic medicine to tackle Hb, Uric Acid and Liver growth
v) Folic Acid 5mg a day, twice daily
vi) No consumption of Febuxostat and Allapurinol tablets to control uric acid
As usual, the B12 and Vitamin D dosage is going on as advised by Andy and levels seem to be stabilised.
Liv 52 syrup has started 10 ml twice a day from last 5 days.
Health is still not upto the mark but better than April 1st week. Bilirubin remains high.
But hopefully after 90 or 180 days, things could shine.
Hoping for the best.
-
Mid-June 2017 a CBC blood work was done with liver and uric acid.
Hb reached 10.4 g/dl now, hematalogist suggested to cut down folic acid dose to 5mg per day instead of 10mg per day
Uric acid is still hovering at 9.3, pain has now started reaching wrist joints, ankle joints, finger joints. Hematalogist suggested taking Allapurinol 100 mg per day, but I have not consumed any uric acid medication since 16th April.
SGOT and SGPT have reached near normal levels of 38 and 35. What is disturbing is the Indirect Bilirubin continues to remain high at 6.25 (its come down from 6.98). Doctor said hemolysis is part of your cycle and indirect bilirubin will remain high".
Last few days Mumbai weather was excessive humid, my kidneys were not able to flush naturally inspite of water intake.
I feel that my kidneys have been overloaded in last 2 months due to excess hemolysis as I was taking folic acid 10mg per day.
Help on uric acid is hardly forthcoming from ayurveda and homeopathy from last 4 months.
At home I started consuming Flax seeds + sesame seeds mixture to control uric acid.
No major improvement.
As Andy stressed the importance of Vitamin E 400 mg per day, I have started taking the same since few days.
-
We have several thal minors reporting high uric acid and even gout. This can be directly related to the high turnover of RBC's. This says to me that these patients have a more unstable hemoglobin than thal minors who do not have this issue. This may be a function of the particular genes these people possess. I know in one case, the combination of beta minor and a triplicated alpha gene, which results in unstable hemoglobin being produced, is the cause. The triplicated alpha gene is seldom looked for in DNA testing and may be overlooked as the cause of high uric acid in some of these patients.
I would really like affected patients to share their stories with each other and see if there is anything common among them and also, if they have discovered any remedies for this problem.
-
I had some good recovery months during May, June and early July. Just mid-July got some bladder/prostate infection and urine stopped flowing. Prostate appeared normal. An infection was diagnosed. No debris found in locked urine sample.
Could there be any role of uric acid crystals for such infections and blockages due to uric acid debris in prostate/urethra?
Doctor ruled out such a thing.
Could uric acid crystals form stones in the kidney? USG showed nothing and a very normal kidneys.
-
@jsbhavsar - by no means am I a doctor however I have experienced similar situation to your uric acid and haemoglobin issue.
I have thalassemia intermedia and my haemoglobin generally runs much lower then yours. Normal around 7.0 - 7.8.
I only take folic acid 5mg once a day and Lamotrogine for my infrequent partial seizures.
anyhow;
My uric acid has always been high since birth and I got my first gout attack in August 2015. It was on my right toe.
After explaining the gout attack to haematologist which then referred me to a Rheumatologist who said the high uric acid was due to massive red cell turn over (thalassemia).
Rheumatologist mentioned there is no need to start allopurinol unless another attack occurs within a year.
Next attack occurred exactly a year later and rheumatologist recommended to try allopurinol to lower uric acid and prevent further attacks (levels were around 550ummol - 600ummol).
I delayed starting allopurinol until January 2017 and then started at 100mg once a day, uric acid dropped but not low enough so we moved to 200mg and then 300mg and finally 400mg.
We finally dropped the uric acid levels to 286ummol and everything was OK. Crystals started dissolving and I got a gout flare (which is usual when you drop your uric acid levels).
However with every increase of allopurinol we saw a slight drop in haemoglobin and by the time I reached 400mgs haemoglobin had dropped to 5.1.
Doctors weren't sure if it was the allopurinol or if there was an internal infection or if my thalassemia just naturally got worse.
I was too worried to continue with allopurinol so I stopped it. 2 weeks after stopping my haemoglobin climbed to 5.7.
Another blood test 3 weeks later and my haemoglobin went to 7.2 and a further week after that it went up further to 7.5.
My uric acid shot up to 760ummol at first and slowly went back down alone to approximately its original amount of 600ummol.
Doctors are not entirely convinced it was due to allopurinol but I haven't changed anything else, they said in rare cases it can cause anaemia but they are not sure that was the reason.
They said it could have also been a temporary internal infection, or the inflammation from the gout attack I got when I got to 300mg allopurinol.
Anyway, I am due another blood test next week to see if everything is still OK and back to normal.
My rheumatologist has now recommended I start febuxostat to try and control my uric acid but I am extremely worried in case the same thing happens again.
The problem is gout is a horrible insidious disease and it will get worse and worse over time if left untreated (gout attacks and arthritis) but I am also too worried to start febuxostat.
I don't know what to do - @Andy do you have any pointers on this one (tests to check if febuxostat is compatible, G6PD, etc)?
In answer to your questions:
1. Uric Acid crystals can cause kidney problems yes.
2. This is the problem with high uric acid levels, crystals will form and they will deposit in most joints and will cause pain everywhere. high uric acid also increases cardiovascular risks.
3. If your uric acid levels are very high it will be impossible to bring them down using homeopathy.
Good water intake helps flush uric acid and Cherries are also known to reduce uric acid levels. You can eat the cherries fresh or you can purchase concentrated cherry juice.
Low fat dairy products also help reduce uric acid levels (milk, cheese, etc.). Avoid very cold temperatures as this can cause quicker crystal formation (uric acid crystallises in lower temp).
Let me know if you need further help with regards to uric acid and gout. (you can also visit this site for information on gout: http://www.goutpal.net).

dq,
My concern about febuxostat, is that the molecule contains sulfur, which is known as a potential cause of hemolysis in thals. Seeing that allopurinol already apparently caused hemolysis, and it's the last thing you need, I would be hesitant to recommend trying a drug containing sulfur.
Because it is known that some foods, along with many chemical fumes, can cause hemolysis in thals, my only suggestion is to keep food diaries and try eliminations to see if anything improves. There may be foods you both are reacting to, and only eliminating one food at a time can help determine which food(s) may be an issue. This has to include spices, etc, including common foods like onions and garlic. Those two should probably be part of an elimination trial at the same time, where normally, one food at a time is eliminated. An article I ran across recently made me wonder about the effects of high garlic use in humans. It is well known that they can both cause hemolysis in cats and dogs. Could high consumption be an issue for someone with red blood cells that are more fragile than normal? Mice and humans share many characteristics. If this happens in mice, should we be looking at it as a possible cause of unexplained hemolysis in humans? This lengthy article can be seen at http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0015358

Hi Andy,
Totally agreed. The only thing that gives a little confidence factor was the fact I had inflammation at the time (and still have some now) which the haematologist said might be the reason although I am not entirely convinced. The main drop in haemoglobin seemed to have gone in line with dose increases. Getting the exact dates will be tough however I think when I was on 100mg of Allopurinol my body seemed to cope ok with no hb drop although I was only taking 100mg for a month before increasing the dose so I wouldn't know if the drop would have occurred without even increasing the dose further.
Another possibility could be with every increase of Allopurinol a haemoglobin followed but its impossible to tell without starting allopurinol again.
With regards to garlic and onions, I eat tons of the stuff, I love it unfortunately.. but I have always had tons of the stuff and never noticed a hb drop, I admit I may have slightly increased my intake during the allopurinol months?
The food elimination trial does seem logical however I didn't really change my eating habits for haemoglobin to drop in the first place?
The only things I did do was increase my intake of apple cider vinegar and cherries both of which supposedly helps with uric acid reduction / removal.
I also increased my water intake significantly which I believe can dilute blood, but I doubt it can reduce it from hb 7.0 to hb 5.1..?
Can the inflammation of my gout attack really have that effect and drop hb?
Allopurinol also has anaemia as one of the rare side effects. Where does that leave us thal gout prone people, what alternatives do we have?
Assuming one takes Luspatercept in future does the mechanism of working increase blood cell life reducing high right turn over?
Ultimately if that was the case, you have a cure for gout in thalassemia patients right there right?
-
hello Andy, just a little bump on this thread.. cheers.. :)
-
Luspatercept greatly reduces the ineffective erythropoiesis, which is one of the two goals of transfusion. This would greatly reduce the RBC turnover, which would mean far less bilirubin, fewer gallstones and less spleen enlargement (in those with spleens). It also reduced the iron load in patients.
There are a few people here reporting this same very high uric acid problem. I am hoping that comparing notes can help. What is causing the high blood turnover? The RBC's are fragile to begin with, but what is the reason for their demise?
-
Hello Andy, thanks for the info on Luspatercept.
It seems as if this is a serious problem amongst thals. I assume the demise has something to do with the general length of time they live in thal patients being much shorter.
The body seems to constantly create to replenish as the general lifetime of the red cells in thals live less so during the death of these cells they release their uric acid?
I mean correct me if I am wrong on this but isn't the issue with thals that they don't produce healthy cells thus unable to carry much haemoglobin?
-
Yes, many of the RBC's produced by by thals are defective and carry no useful hemoglobin. In addition, the RBC's are more fragile in general, and can break down prematurely, especially when exposed to certain substances, like sulfur or chemical fumes. With the cases of high uric acid, the only explanation I can see is that the fragile RBC's are breaking down quickly, resulting in a high turnover of RBC's and the waste products that come with that.

Things were fairly OK in July-August. Late August I had stress and fatigue. I did come out of it.
Since last 8 days, I have more stress and fatigue. It was very hot and humid in Mumbai around 14-15-16 September. I sweated a lot.
From 18th September I started keeping my blood pressure at 110/70, 110/65 too. I took rest one day (yday) and saw the doctor. He advised that it was 110/74 and would first start Enerzal (energy drink with electrolytes). Things did not improve much. Saw doctor again today. I had angina type pain, low feeling and low energy when speaking on phone calls etc. Basically no energy left in body kind of.
Doctor advised I continue on electrolytes for few more days three times a day. Also Pantoprazole + Domeperidone capsule started for few days.
It was 120/80 today and during work pressure was 110/80.
Eyes are looking quite pale yellow. Tired, fatigue and stressed.
For a few weeks I had stopped the Vitamin E gel cap. I started it gain today.
I have gone through the Febuxostat and Allapurinol stages in March-April. I will suggest thal patients not to engage on those drugs.
One of my own childhood doctor in interior India suffers from high uric acid level. He takes Allapurinol 300 mg tablet. His kidneys have stopped functioning since last 8-10 months.
I really dont know what should be done for below things:
- Entire day watery mouth feeling due to high bilirubin
- Excessive stomach bloating symptoms
- Joint pain in morning to afternoon hours
- hardening of stomach line, the softiness is long gone
Is Lesinurad (Zurampic) the new medicine the future? Is it better than Febuxostat and Allapurinol?
A Mumbai Homeopath doctor claims to have cured a heavily suffering liver patient completely well in few months of time. His Fees are extremely high, very high. When hospitals had claimed for a transplant, the patient is walking with normal lifestyle.
Is Homeopathy the way forward? I have been taking it since 6 months and have not seen much improvement.
-
Zurampic can cause kidney failure, so it may not be the improvement you're hoping for.
I have to feel that the heat, air pollution and noise of Mumbai all add to the stress. I have a dear friend in Mumbai who is thal minor and she reports so many problems to me that I have to believe the environment if a major factor in her health.
-
I just cannot imagine and find hard to describe how hard have these 3 weeks been on my health.
First it was low BP and pain in abdomen.
Then it was the Vitamin D3 shot 600,000 IU taken on my waist on 26 September morning. 48 hrs later, I was in a Cardiology hospital ICU. I had sharp acute pain on my back side exactly behind my heart. Immovable, immobile, inability to sit or walk for 80 minutes.
Expert Doctors on that day diagnosed it has "D3 fat soluble oil based injection put strenuous load on already weak liver, resulting gastritis".
Next 48 hours went normal but weak.
28-Sep went for a very detailed Hematologist and Cardiologist evaluation at a large bone marrow transplant medical centre.
as blood was being drawn there, I caught a viral fever that afternoon.
Within 3 hours of that I had 102.5F fever, pulse 125 and BP 109/58.
Could not stand, walk move. Was taken to a hospital by Dad.
The doctor diagnosed it as "regular viral fever" and suggested 3 days antibiotics "Cefadexine 325" along with Paracetamol 650 mg 4 times a day. I barely recovered from that illness on Oct 3 or so but not fully.
The prolonged weakness from last 3 weakness is still very bad on me. I am feeling far far weak than what it was in April-May this year. The viral fever did much harm to me, it did far more bad on my red cell health as well. Such high fever came on my body almost after 18-20 months.
I am desperately looking at Homeopathy treatment now to boost my Hemoglobin and reduce uric acid and increase bodily strength.
I want to zero down on two or three homeopathy dilutions for 2 to 3 months to boost Hb and red cells and reduce uric acid.

I have been messaging on Facebook for over a week with a parent whose child had an apparent transfusion reaction and then was given that same antibiotic as you took. The result was rapidly declining white blood cells. That antibitioc is a sulfur med and should not be taken by thals, as sulfur can cause hemolysis. Since the child stopped the antibiotic on my recommendation, the white cells have rebounded.

In my case here is the statistics from the blood work:
13-Jun-2017, WBC was 11.9
18-Sep-2017, WBC was 7.22 (no antibiotics taken between 13 Jun and 18 Sep)
28-Sep-2017 1 PM, WBC was 10.9 (I had not taken any antibiotics, but had started contracting viral fever from noon)
28-Sep-2017 6PM, very high fever 102F, 109/55, Pulse 125
28-Sep-2017 10PM, first antibiotic Cefodexine 325 taken after several months of gap
Good recovery from viral fever came only after 3rd October after finishing the 3 days antibiotics course.
Entire week from 2 October I remained frail, dizziness, weak and frail
7 Oct 2017, homeopathy Arsenic Album 30c, Crotalus Horr 30c, Reckeweg R7 dilutions started
14 Oct 2017, homeopathy SBL Uric Acidum 30c dilution started
Feeling slightly better as compared to 3rd October.
Need to monitor my TSH and Vitamin D3 and B12 levels.

My biggest concern after the viral flu of 29th September is my blood circulation in body is gone quite poor.
Yday met another older age man (in his 50s) who fell sick in Mumbai the same week when I fell sick with viral fever and he had fever of 103F. He was given 20-22 days of bed rest, no hospitalization, sort of mini paralysis below his waist and had very poor blood circulation. He was then referred to a MD Neurologist and he has been put on a multivitamin course.
Here is the content of Zincovit tablet:

Probably it is tablet with more zinc?

Building up on this thread, I too have high uric acid and need to start treatment soon. I have tried allopurinol with a hg drop and will be starting febuxostat.
I am aware that this may cause a hg drop but what other options do we have..? hometherapy will never drop serum uric acid levels from 600ummol to 350ummol (safe numbers).
I've already been through 2 gout attacks and they are horrible, rhematologist told me that if I do not take action soon joints will be severely damaged in the future. Haematologist saying similar things.
jsbhavsar, How are you dealing with your uric acid problem and are you still getting pain in your joints?
Andy, anything you can add to help in the uric acid situation?

From 7th October, I am taking homeopathy:
Acid Uricum 30CH dilution 8 drops twice daily
Arsenic Alb 30CH dilution 5 drops twice daily, then later on 5 drops twice only on Sundays
Crotalus Horr 30CH dilution 5 drops twice daily, finish one bottle and stop
Nux Vomica 30CH dilution not started
Ceanothus Americanus Q not started
We will need to give some more time to Homeopathy dilutions to act and react.
I have not yet measured my uric acid levels after 18 September.
Homeopathy remedies may or may not work on all patients. Maybe each patient will have different remedies according to their medical conditions and personality.
Last week I ordered 10 to 11 large books on Homeopathy and have started reading from Hahnemann's times and the Art of healing.
NOTE: I am not a homeopathy doctor nor I wish to become one in future
