Post by: IF on December 28, 2017, 02:08:52 AM
Is it ok for thalassemia patient to take folic acid.  I have had iron toxicity when I was a child. Last year my ferritin level slipped way down and they hematologist decided that I should receive iron transfusions times two. No my ferritin level is to high and he states that it will come down .

Yes, it is recommended for thals, but the form as L-methylfolate gives better results than folic acid.
