Title: Washed packed cell
Post by: Lokkhi maa on June 13, 2018, 04:48:23 PM
Hello Andy,

Hope are well.
We usually used leukocyte filter for packed cell transfusion. But recently due to unavailability of leukocyte filter, transfusion centre advises us to use washed packed cell.
Now please advise us, if we used that, then the RBC will be same as packed cell?
Also, is the washed packed cell reduces the allergic reaction?
Thanks.

Ask the center if the RBC's are filtered when they produce the washed packed cells. Normally, the answer is yes, so it would be as safe.
