I started on Exjade today!! I am so excited about getting it. I was curious as to what people take it with, and if they take it in the morning or evening? Novartis people said it could be taken at night on an empty stomach. Does anyone know if you can take it with any kind of juice, or does it have to be orange or apple? Could you take it with fresh grapefruit juice, for example? I am going to call Novartis and ask about the juice, but I thought maybe someone here had some info.
Thanks for anything you can tell me. :stars Jean

Hi Jean,
Congratulations on getting access to Exjade :thumbsup
The juice is just to make it more palatable. You can even take Exjade with a plain glass of water. Make sure you take plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated lest you develop the unpleasant stomach side-effect :wink
So, it's a good idea to take juices if you find it hard to drink water every now and then.
Take care, Peace!

That's great, Jean! I'm very happy for you! :clap
The only liquids that Novartis suggests you use Exjade in is apple juice, orange juice, or water. :)

Thanks everyone. You guys are the best. I wish everyone could have Exjade. I seem to be doing pretty good on it so far. How soon after you started it did you get your rash, Danielle? My stomach is a little upset tonight, but nothing very bad at all. Peace and love, Jean

I think I was on it for about 3 weeks to one month before the rash started, Jean. Then, I broke out in these ugly red, raised pimple-like bumps. It started out very little, on my legs. Then, it increasingly became worse, and covered most of my body. My doctor just had me lower the dose, but continue to use it. It went away in about 7 to 10 days on it's own. :happyyes
Just let your doctor know if you start breaking out in a rash, even if it's a little bit. I hope your stomach feels better soon. :hugfriend
