Title: Stan Kastoras A Warrior
Post by: Andy Battaglia on March 14, 2007, 02:14:02 AM
With a very heavy heart I must inform this group of the passing of Stan Kastoras, husband of Miaki, and father to their son, on March 13, 2007 after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

Stan was a warrior in every sense of the word, battling thal as a champion. His iron will kept him going much longer than any doctors believed possible.

He will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to his wife and son, and all his family and friends.

Miaki, we are here for you.

I can't believe I am reading this. :quiver

Stan was a true warrior. He is an example for all of us to fight disease beyond our natural limits without giving up hope. He was a true soldier and his name will live on among us forever.

My heart goes out to his entire family and friends. :sorrow

Miaki, I know it is a very hard time upon you now, but you have to be strong and take extra care of yourself and your son.

May his soul have peace. :pray

Stan was one of the first patients I meet at my very first TIF conference in NYC.  I remember he and his friend Bill were wearing cowboy hats!

I had the pleasure of meeting Maria when she and Stan came to the States for their honeymoon.  Through the years I have seen Maria, or Maria & Stan at the TIF conferences.  I am happy and proud to call them friends.

Stan was a pioneer for all thal patients.  I will miss you Stan the Man!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with Maria & Theodore.

Dearest Miaki, I am overwhelmed with sadness from hearing about dear Stan's passing. I was on my way to visit you both in the ward on Tuesday the 13th after my transfusion but the phenergan I was given had totally taken over my senses and so I decided to turn around and head home. Today I found out that Stan had passed on that very day. I cannot believe it.....so very hard to comprehend. I am praying for you and Theodore. Stan was indeed a gentleman with a wicked sense of humour and will be SO missed by SO many.  He was courageous and an absolute inspiration to me. He will always be in my memory. Darling Maria, you are in my thoughts and in my prayers.....I wish I could say something to ease your pain

Stan was indeed a wonderful person who grabbed the bull by the horns and experienced life to the fullest when he could. He had the gift of the gab, a wonderful presence and a kind heart.

I will always remember his smile.

My sincerest sympathy to his family.

Theodore your father will always be with you watching you from heaven with every successful move you make. I'm sure you will make both your parents proud.

Hello to all

On behalf of my son and I, we would like to thank you all for your beautiful messages of love and support.

Stan was a wonderful husband, father, friend and more. He battled for many years with his Thalassaemia and various other health issues. However over the past almost 1.5 yrs he battled with his biggest enemy cancer.

Stan was a man of intelligence, pride and perfection.  He had a great life, achieved many goals and defied the odds. He truly was a remarkable person. Even in his last days he had many come to see him and he thanked them for being such great friends and it was an honor to have known them. Personally it was an honor to have known him.

I was blessed to have him as my soul mate. He has left me many memories too many to mention in fact, but the greatest gift he has left me was our beautiful son and the love we shared for each other. I don’t think anything can ever take that away from me, no matter how much time may pass.

Stan requested a song to be played at his funeral that he felt summed his journey of life to a tee. I share this with you.
I think for somebody to plan their own funeral ittakes alot of strenght and that Stan definately had.

My way by Frank Sinatra

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain.

I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and every  highway;
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spat it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried.
I've had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
"No, oh no not me,
I did it my way".

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

Rest in peace sweetheart,
Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories
Eternally yours , Maria (Miaki)

This poem reflects truly what a brave soldier Stan was.

May he rest in peace  :sorrow

Miaki, you will always have Stan with you spiritually and physically in form of Theodore. He will grow up to be as brave as Stan if you stay brave with him.

Take care of your self and your little soldier.

Hugs to Theodore (Stan Junior) :hugfriend

Four months dearly missed but never forgotten

STAN, my darling, I loved you with a full heart,
the day you quietly slipped away you tore my soul apart,
but it was not your fault, it was your time to go.
All the tears I shed for you now would never fill the sea,
But an ocean is not as deep as the love I shall always carry for you,
I remember the precious times we had so very many together,
Our hearts and love are forever,

But I knew from the land of living sweet heart, I knew you had to go
You deserved your dignity in your goodbye,
I saw the love in your eyes before your spirit set free,

We shall meet again,
But never the less I have to endure the pain....
of knowing that you are free
I know that you are waiting for me
Where once again for all eternity be free forever.

Miss you , Love you for all eternity your family.  xoxoxoxo

In loving memory of my beloved Stan
13 03 2007

When you went away our world turned to grey without the sunshine of your smile.
All seems dark without the light from the twinkle of your eye.
Our heart is heavy without the sound of your laughter and the touch of your sweet voice.
Lets all smile and celebrate your  life for knowing you had a good one full of love, laughter, good friends and afamily and that you will be waiting fur us were, we will all be together for eternity one day.
Rest in peace honey,  dearly missed but never forgotten.

You left me, sweet, two legacies,

A legacy of love

A Heavenly Father would content,

Had He the offer of;

You left me boundaries of pain

Capacious as the sea,

Between eternity and time,

Missing you

Maiki,

I am so sorry that your beloved is no longer with you.  Although I believe that in some form he will always be with you.  His presence is giving you the strength to keep being who you are.
