Title: NO TRANSFUSION FOR LAURYN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Christine Mary on April 30, 2007, 05:39:49 PM
Hi guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No transfusion for Lauryn today!!!!!!!!!
:yahoo :yahoo :yahoo :cheer :cloud9 :cloud9 :cloud9 :cloud9 :cloud9 :heartred :clap :clap :veil :veil :veil :heartpink :love :love :party :stars :nurse :happydance :grouphug :high5 :bigparty :yay :wootwoot :yay :yay :bigparty :bigparty :wootwoot

Its been exactly 4 weeks since her last transfusion and she's still at a 10.2!!!!! Her dr doesnt want us back for another 2 weeks. Her retic count is also great-2.4 %.

We are still waiting for the DNA results to conme back. Is all of this strange? I didnt think majors went longer than 4 weeks... Lauryn will go 6!

Her dr also says it looks like she will transfuse less often than most majors?! Is this normal?

The only thing I didnt like was her spleen was STILL 3 cm. Is this okay?

I am so happy about this news. I wish I could hug all of you to show my appreciation for helping us and listening to me.

WOW!  :biggrin  That's great news Christine! Of course we'll all start thinking about the possibility of intermedia and hydroxyurea but we best wait for the DNA results.

That's wonderful.  The longer she can go between transfusions the better!  Transfusion requirements vary for different people, the average is about 4wks.  The longer your little one can go the better.  It's also nice that she didn't need to begin tx for such a long time.  This is good news and you should treat it as such.

All the best,
Sharmin

Indeed Great News!!!

My daughter was transfused every 6 weeks for the first year and now she is on 5 weeks regimen. We are still doing okay for 5 weeks as she is approx 11.0 after 5 weeks.

I am surprised if Lauryn was 10.2 why she was not transfused, doctors here don't wait for HB to drop below 10.0.

Hope everything is fine.

Regards

Christine,

It is really a good news.  I can fully understand the joy in your heart.  My daughter has hbh, thal intermedia.  Her hb has increased from 7.6 to 8 at last dr. appointment, I am so happy that I can't even explain to myself.  Just 0.4, so silly.  Keep it up.
